I'm not trying to be a dick, but if you just put something in your sig that says you really like Zeller, it'd cut waaaaay back on your posts.
All the non-guarantees have to be waived by June 30th and are added to the T-Rob 3.5 we cleared to have enough space for Dwight. You cannot then sign those non-guaranteed contracts and use them in a trade package with White and Jones for JSmoove. Anyways why would Atlanta want to do a S&T with us? The only players they are interested in are Asik and Parsons.
Teams know if we want Howard we need to trade TRob (trade at least someone), knowing that we don't have the leverage we would if we didn't have to trade him
Correct. Here's Larry Coon's explanation: If the player is already under contract to, or signs a contract with a non-NBA team, the team retains the player's draft rights for one year after the player's obligation to the non-NBA team ends. Essentially, the clock stops as long as the player plays pro ball outside the NBA. Players are not included in team salary during the regular season while the player is under contract with a non-NBA team. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q49
Not true. Anderson's guarantee date isn't until October 31st. Ohlbrecht doesn't have a guarantee date. Greg Smith has trade value and a 50% guarantee for next season. He won't be waived. He would be traded possibly but not waived. I can see the possibility of waiving all 3 of James Anderson, Ohlbrecht, and Smith if we make a trade on or around draft night to bring in DeShawn STevenson and/or CJ Miles. We could theoretically waive those guys with an agreement to re-sign them after we make our acquisitions and cross our fingers and hope they are still there. Stevenson and Miles have unguaranteed deals that could be merged with our PFs to aggregate salary for a sign and trade.
Teams know we can trade guys and sign Howard. So it's not like we are in a jam here. We could trade DMO and TJones for a couple future first rounders and waive a couple guys to bring in Howard and leave TRob sitting on the roster if we have to. So, it's not like we're desparate and have to take whatever is offered for TRob. Plenty of options folks. Think about this. Why would Morey allow this to leak? He doesn't let anything leak. So that should tell you he has a purpose in doing so. Do you think he's gonna let something like this leak out if it is going to hurt him? Nope. I can almost bet he's already got a deal for TRob and he's simply looking for something more. Believe me, we aren't desperate.
Bout damn time Woj confirms Dwight's interest in us. Nothing is fact until Woj reports it. That's the biggest news to me in this article.
Yes OK. You can see from my original statement above I was responding to the suggestion we trade all our non-guaranteed + White + Jones in a package for JSmoove after we sign Dwight, which would be IMPOSSIBLE
Did you miss this? Howard has become increasingly intrigued with the Rockets as a possible destination, sources said. Houston's supporting cast, including James Harden and Chandler Parsons, is one of the reasons. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--h...space-for-run-at-dwight-howard-215915027.html
Impossible simply because JSmoove is probably not going to sign for less than $40 million over 4 years.
Who said the leak was someone on the Rockets? Maybe it was someone on a team that Morey has contacted about taking T-Rob. Maybe Morey would've preferred this stay quiet until it was done.
Package a deal around Thomas Robinson and make a run at LaMarcus Aldridge. Makes us an immediate title contender.
YES. Of course. JSmoove made $13.2m last season. The max for him is $19,136,250. I don't believe he is worth max but he is looking for somewhere between 13.2 - 16.2. White + Jones + D-Mo + Ohlbrect + G.Smith + Anderson and whoever else your suggesting isn't going to cut it. 1) Atlanta would want those players. 2) There a trade matching rules!
That's possible. But Morey is too smart for that. If Morey had've preferred this stay quiet he would've made that a condition of any talks with the GM before he talked about TRob. Other GM agrees and that's that. If there's a leak, Morey knows it came from the other GM. What do you think that does for that GM in future trade negotiations with Morey? Once again, that's just not the way things are done. Gotta look past the leaks and determine first of all, are they legitimate? And secondly, if legitimate, what is the purpose of leaking something like this? I suspect this leak is somewhat legitimate, because Morey hasn't refuted it. But I also suspect that the leak is probably not entirely accurate or there are a lot of other factors and possibilities that were not leaked, such as the possibility of a deal already being agreed to and Morey or the other GM wanting to turn it into a bigger deal. I also suspect that Morey may have let this leak so he could get trade values on all his young power forwards and know on draft night what the trade possibilities are across the board. Morey is a data and information freak. He's gonna have a hundred possible trades lined up when it comes time to deal. He's one of the best in the business. This could just be a piece of fresh meat put out to attract all the dog sniffs.
But that may cut it for Paul Millsap.....or Kirilenko. And it would definitely cut it for another player already signed to a contract making less than $9 mill per season, say someone like Ilyasova.
