Dream had a temper during a period of the NBA when players would throw punches...Lol.

And fans don't always know what's best. I remember many disapproved of the Harden trade. They wanted to keep K-Mart and the draft picks.

Minus T-Rob = Cap room to sign Dwight outright.

White, Jones, and every non-guranteed contract except for Parsons and Beverly = S&T or just trade for a contract up to 15.296,820 million

    Lin, Beverly
    Harden
    Parsons
    JSmoove (S&T), DMo
    Howard, Asik

For future cap flexibility, eg salary room for Parsons and to get better support pieces on the Rockets bench...

    1) Lin to Hawks for Lou Williams and Korver (S&T). Salary and talent perspective the Hawks can afford to have both Teague and Lin.

Williams is a better version of Brooks who the Rockets were rumored to be interested in last year.

    Williams, Beverly
    Harden, Korver (S&T)
    Parsons, 34th pick
    JSmoove (S&T), DMo
    Howard, Asik

    or

2a) Lin to Bucks for Dunleavy (S&T) or Reddick (S&T). Salary and talent perspective the Bucks can afford to have both Jennings and Lin. It also gives them leverage or options against Jennings who wants the max.

2b) Sign Udrih with room exception

    Udrih, Beverly
    Harden, Dunleavy or Reddick (S&T)
    Parsons, 34th pick
    JSmoove (S&T), DMo
    Howard, Asik

Nope, doesn't work. Fails on the first step. How did you S&T for JSmoove without including Lin, Asik, or D-Mo in the trade?

Here are the actual cap hits and cap room based on a $60m cap. Start over...

Houston cap room after waiving Garcia, Delfino, Brooks and Anderson

    01) Harden 13,668,750
    02) Asik 8,374,646
    03) Lin 8,374,646
    04) Robinson 3,526,440
    05) White 1,719,480
    06) Jones 1,551,840
    07) Montiejunas 1,422,720
    08) Parsons 926,500
    09) G.Smith 884,293
    10) Beverley 788,872
    11) Cap Hold 490,180
    12) 2nd Rounder 0
    *Honeycut 100,000

    Total = 41,828,367
    Cap room = 18,171,633
Need to free extra 2,341,545 to give Dwight the max.

*Honeycut has been waived but has a partial guarantee for 2013/14.

How to free cap room to offer Howard the max

Trade Robinson + White + $2,000,000 (cover White's contract) to ??? for future first round pick = $5,245,920

    Cap hit with Howard onboard

    01) Harden 13,668,750
    02) Asik 8,374,646
    03) Lin 8,374,646
    04) Howard 20,513,178
    05) Cap Hold 490,180
    06) Jones 1,551,840
    07) Montiejunas 1,422,720
    08) Parsons 926,500
    09) G.Smith 884,293
    10) Beverley 788,872
    11) Cap Hold 490,180
    12) 2nd Rounder 0
    *Honeycut 100,000

    Total = $57,585,805

Hey Fair Dinkum, I dont think the 2nd rounder counts against the cap and thus requires a cap hold for that 12th spot.

You sign and trade for Millsap...not Smith. Salary cap will have to be a little over $60 million and Millsap will have to settle for around $38-40 million over 4 years.

Would Utah even want Asik with Kanter waiting in the wings?

I find a deal with Atlanta feasible due to how well Horford (moved into his natural PF position) and Asik would fit together, along with the young PF talent we could provide them (T-Rob, D-MO, White lol)

Though, we'd have to bank on Smith not taking the max if he wants to win.

Hey Moonscope, I just noticed your sig., you're a fellow Aussie! Nice to see.

Well picked-up on the second rounder. Cap hold would be $490,180

You don't trade Asik. You aggregate our non-guaranteed deals and our young pfs as outgoing salary, flip Utah one future draft pick for signing and trading Millsap, and you use the 150% rule to give Millsap around $38-40 million.

Wow. I didn't quite realize we could do that.

Yeah, let's do that then! I'm on board. What would our line-up be, in that case?

Well, in my dreams our roster would shape up this way if I got everything I wanted...

    Lin/Beverley/Goudelock
Harden/second rounder (hopefully Ledo or Bullock)
    Parsons/one of Delfino/Garcia re-signed using Room MLE
    Dwight/Asik/CZeller
    Millsap/Asik/CZeller/Aldemir

+ a vet minimum salary free agent or two

I know it says trade failed, but the Jazz will have more than enough cap space to absorb Lin and Royce after Jefferson and/or Millsap are officially off their books in July (signed by another team). For that reason, this is strictly hypothetical, assuming we sign Dwight, and for some reason we don't move Robinson before the draft.

If this trade needed to happen before the draft, we could remove the Jazz and Jeremy/Royce altogether. The 3 team version works fine.

I know everyone wants to either keep Omer if we get Dwight or trade him for a star PF. With this trade the Rockets get a great bench in return, which is vital to any contending team, while getting more cap space in return (Caron Butler could be bought out/waived, I believe).

The Clippers get an above average perimeter player that could take some pressure off of CP3, as well as another go-to guy.

The Celtics get tremendous value for their former franchise player, with a nice young player with loads of athleticism.

flame suit ready for those that will inevitably complain about suggesting trading Omer for a new bench brigade.

Some of us also remember Joe Barry Carroll, Benoit Benjamin and Michael Olawokandi -- three other extremely talented bigs with attitude issues who never really matured enough to take advantage of those talents. DMC could just as easily remain a hindrance to his team for his entire career. Just because he's young now doesn't mean he WILL grow up.

Do you mean the way that Howard has grown up...?

I get your point but those guys you mentioned have no where near the talent DMC does. You need to go look at his game logs from this season. That's a kid you take a chance on.

My point is that ALL of those guys had that kind of talent. JBC averaged 20+ ppg and 10+ rebounds for a few years, and Benjamin wasn't that far behind. Kandi wasn't as good offensively, but that's only because he never worked on his game. Taking a risk no a head case is just that -- a risk. You never can tell whether they'll eventually come around or not.

Carroll is the only one of the 3 named. Benjamin nor Kandi ever came close to being anything but just a 7footer. Carroll was injured which led to his decline. Cousins is far superior in talent and overall ability compared to all 3 guys. The Rox would do very well to get a 22 year old Cousins. If iwrong I will be the first to admit it. I've been wrong before but I've also watched and played a lot of bball over my 50 years of living.

I think trob asik and t jones for millsap would work. They will have 2 Turkish centers and a 2 competing pfs for backups for favors. T jones could possibly slide to sf. Honestly I think jazz would be willing to take Lin because they are looking for pg help and this years pg fa is weak except Chris Paul. Collison couldn't start in front of mike James and no one will overpay for Brandon Jennings, and Jeff Teague is restricted.

If we could milk Utah for taking Lin asik trob and jones we could possibly have room for Dwight and Paul unless I'm missing something in salary. Or would we need to sign Dwight first and then go about a sign and trade. But I do agree if we need a pf it's def millsap because of his range and his motor. Would def go well with Howard.
