Thanks, good one. We don't know how DRob pans out or how the management sees him but the excuse for TRob not producing is good. He was new, it's a playoffs team so win now, it's a cap space move. It's a mystery and someone might be willing to give something good for him.

Would much rather see if Rockets can move White and I still insist on Rockets try to swing Asik and T-Rob for Brook Lopez. But good luck on T-Rob on his future endeavors.

Bobcats fans seem to have no problem trading the 2014 Portland 1st (Top 12 Protected) for T-Rob. That would be perfect and another asset for a future trade for Love/LMA.

I had high hopes for him. He was a project, but I actually liked a lot of things I saw from unlike others here. Hope it turns out well for him and we get Howard. Going to be disappointed if we trade him and we end up striking out on Howard again.

The way I see it is that they favor TJones or DMo as our guy at the 4

A big gamble but nonetheless it's a championship ring if it works.

Those guys count less against the cap. That's probably it.

Rob is a scrub that Morey never should have acquired in the first place.

If he comes to Houston and signs on the dotted line I think he finally realizes that Houston has been and always was the best option for him ever since he wanted out of Orlando

First of all, if T-Rob does get moved, I'd like to with him and his little sister all the best. When I found out about his story it touched me and I'm sure he has that effort and determination to succeed in the NBA when given the opportunity.

I don't think the Rockets this to become a public auction like some here are suggesting. You don't do that to players. I think Woj just has good sources and someone at the teams the Rockets were shopping him out to leaked the info.

The timing of this is very early, with over a month to go before free agency starts. T-Rob was always the logical choice to free up enough cap-room to sign Howard outright. Some reasons we could be shopping him around this early:

    1) Eliminate the competition. Dallas Mavericks also need to free up cap room to sign Dwight. One of the pieces Dallas would be likely to shop around is Marion who is also a power forward.

    2) We must be confident about going after Dwight. The only reason to free up that amount of cap room is precisely to target Howard with a super max contract. Our confidence may have improved with some positive feedback from Harden and Parsons in their recent meetings with Dwight.

    3) Move now to secure our position early instead of desperation shopping later in the process. Morey's team has obviously gone through all the different trade scenarios and have a clear idea of the plan they want to execute. They are positioning themselves early.

The trade will likely be for a future first round draft pick. A first round draft pick in this year's draft will cost us a cap hold to the the amount of the Rookie Scale http://www.cbafaq.com/scale2011.htm
We will not trade for a 1st round draft pick this year unless it is off-set by including R.White ($1.7m) in the deal to off-set the cap hit. We add R.White to the deal by adding $2.1m money we have left in our allowance. The allowance resets on for next season. The pick will have to be for 11th through 30th position (less than $1.7m cap hold). This is unlikely to happen as not many teams with 11 - 30 picks have cap room to absorb White's expiring contract.

Overall this is a move in line with the scenarios we have discussed on Clutch Fans. This line up could be the ultimate goal:

Lin / Beverley / Brooks (Vet. Min.)
    Harden / 2nd Rounder
    Parsons / Garcia (room exception)
    Howard / Jones / D-Mo / Aldemir (Turkey)
    Asik / G.Smith

    In Morey We Trust!

why does everyone want to ship out Asik??? For Brook Lopez?? We don't need more offense!!! If anything, he could be packaged for a J-Smith type player, but not no-rebound, shaky defense lopez. Seriously!

Also, with Jones DMO and TROB in the mix (and Royce Winnebago) one of these guys has to go. Sorry TROB but you are just one of Morey's puppets as he orchestrates the next Houston Rockets dynasty.

Maurrey is becoming more and more conniving. Dork Elvis has evolved into Evil Genius Elvis! Whatever that looks like.

Charlotte would come out pretty well if they traded for him.
Core of Walker, McLemore/Oladipo, MKG and T-Rob is definitely worthy of some envy.

I agree with you. I think Charlotte is the most likely candidate.

Let's not get carried away here. We need to actually make the trade desirable in some way.

If you get it in writing from the player that they will not sign a contract with you for the entire year, they won't count against your team salary during the offseason. I'm almost 100% positive the Rockets did this with Donatas Motiejunas in 2011 in order to clear enough room to sign Samuel Dalembert as well as give Chandler Parsons his 4-year deal.

[rquoter]50. Are draft picks included in team salary? If so, for how much?

An unsigned first round pick is removed from team salary if the team and player both agree in writing not to sign any contract through the following June 30. The scale amount is returned to the team salary the following July 1. If the team renounces its draft rights, the player's scale amount is removed from the team salary permanently, and the team relinquishes its draft rights to the player

I have to think the Rockets have some sort of understanding that Dwight's seriously planning to sign here. Maybe 1/3 chance at least. Otherwise, this is a bad time to trade Robinson, since his value should be low.

Personally, whether this is a "good" trade or not depends entirely on Howard signing here. I don't think we can get equal value in return in terms of a pick with Robinson's upside. But I'll be happy with a lottery-protected first. And content with a couple of 2nd rounders(provided they come from a sucky team).
