If the Rockets can grab another quality C and there's seems to be a lot of Cs available in this draft. In the future, it would allow the Rockets to trade either Asik or the drafted C. The Rockets would be in position for high value returns because of the inflated value of good Cs without having to lose depth.

I don't think he's even worth a 2nd rounder to any GM right now.

No, you're not missing anything. Actually you answered your own question. Trob's probably going to become very good role player at the least, but it's going to take 2/3 years to do that. By trading Trob instead of say Dmo & TJ, we clear up enough cap space to sign Howard to a max contract out right.

At 00:00:01 on July 1st, we can play "Where in the world is Darrell Morey?"!!

Since there is a lot of talk about TRobinson I went back to look at exactly what Morey said about Robinson yesterday at the luncheon word for word.

Question: What's the outlook on Thomas Robinson

Daryl Morey: "So Thomas is here today(at Toyota Center). Actually up on our court working out. We have really high hopes for him. I mean, we were never bad enough to draft 5th in the draft and that's where he went. We were high on him. We are still high on him. He was an elite rebounder. Frankly, he came in the middle of the year as a rookie and coach McHale is just trying to win games so at that point we were fighting for our playoff lives so he(Coach McHale) is not looking at can he(Trob) help me win win 2 years from now. He is just trying to win games that night and really no matter where he turned it was good for us because it is a young player who is improving whether it is Thomas, Jones, Donatas, or Greg Smith. So no matter who he picked he was helping both the big picture and winning tonight and Thomas got a decent shot early, he ended up liking Terrence more because he felt he could help us now. Frankly, we are just putting them in the mix and letting the fight it out and may the best man win. We have a lot of good bigs between TJ, Donatas, Thomas, and Greg Smith. And we have potentially a Turkish kidding coming over, Furkan Aldemir, this year. So we are going to let them fight it out."

Again I understand Morey can't be to forthcoming with us so he made some general statements but I wanted to relay it to you guys word for word. I'm only sharing what he said exactly because his statements are not releasing any insider information so I don't think he would mind.

A good move for the Rox; already to many PF's as it is.

One of them, Robinson in this case, had to be expendable.

How about Royce White + Thomas Robinson for cap space? The rockets would clear a little over $5 million off the books.

Robinson would still be at least a mid to late first round pick this year, and it only costs the team his salary plus White's salary for one season.

A team under the cap would take him. Why wouldn't they? 3 more years on his rookie deal to see whether he amounts to something. Where's the risk?

Yes, unsigned 1st round picks have a cap hold, since you are expected to sign them. This gets around people waiting all summer to sign their 1st round picks, so that they have more cap room.

    from Larry Coon's FAQ

"14. Exactly what is included when computing total team salaries? What is cap room? What is a cap hold?

[...] The following are included in team salary:

    • A cap hold for the "scale" amount for the team's unsigned first round draft pick(s) (see question number 50). This amount begins to apply to team salary immediately upon selection in the draft1. This amount can be excluded from the team salary for the current season if, before the season starts, the team and player agree in writing that the team will not sign the player during that season."

    Yeah.

The guy is a hard-worker so I really feel wherever he lands the team is going to get a good player in time. Hard work always pays off, that's one thing you can bet on.

I don't think the Rockets would like to trade Robinson but he has to go for Dwight then he has to go.

Normally I would say all the quality centers would be gone by the time we pick in the 2nd round. But, in Morey we trust. Right Chandler!

about 20 million just to start??!?! how much would he make the last year? ridiculous, at 20 mill he'd be the 3rd highest paid player in the league behind Dirk and Kobe.
