Not surprising. I always felt that Trob was a tradeable asset the moment he stepped on the court as a rocket. He will not a special player. Just another good role player, at best.

Dont forget, he was the 5th pick overall in the draft and he's still young. Those are the only things that teams would be interested in.

Honestly, that just tells me that moray believes in D-mo and Jones. As well, he should be. They have potential. Where as Robinson will be just a role player, like a Tyler Hansborough, Udonis Haslem.

What did you guys make of Trob this year? I thought I saw a rookie with the tools to become pretty decent. But it's going to take a few years. Am I missing something? Is he just not an NBA level player? Bad work ethic? Read Vogue in the trainer's office?

IM starting to believe that if DH comes to Houston that Asik will get traded by the NBA draft.

Robinson has shown flashes of being a very good player. He is very raw offensively though, but a playmaker on the defensive end.

And I'm pretty sure the reason for trading him is for capspace purposes.

I would be glad if Morey doesn't have to give up an asset like a future pick or a young player with more promise (DMo, Jones, etc.) in order to dump Robinson's salary.

NBA Draft is June 28(?). Free Agency begins July 1, players can't sign until July 10 or 11.

Rockets are going all in to get DH12, question is will DH12 commit to come to H-Town?

From the beginning the trade for T-Rob was clearly a salary cap move - either with his rookie contract as a bargain producer on the court or as trade bait. I am kinda surprised they are already making him available, since they only have to move him, if Dwight or CP3 actually want to come here. And I guess this means we don`t want to do a sign and trade...

I think we could get a mid 1st rounder for him. He is still young, he still has lots of potential. I wouldn`t mind keeping him, but if we do and he doesn`t pan out we wouldn`t get a thing for him.

It might also mean, that we try to get a solid 4 this off season, whether thats Josh Smith or Paul Millsap (a sign and trade would be necessary to do that AND get Dwight).

All the reports seem to indicate the Rockets are very high on Asik. Even the neutral commentators in the media think his production is greater than the value of his contract.

We've seen in this playoffs how important it is to have two starter level Cs who play both ways. Ideally, I don't think he's the other big contract the front office wants to move if they needed that extra cap room.

Honestly, Robinson hasnt shown me anything. He was a non factor whenever he was on the court. I dont get why everyone on this thread is sad that he is being shopped around. He doesnt have much potential.

On the other hand, D-mo has actually shown flashes of being a good player, scoring 17-20 points, showing his full repertoire. Yet, people on this board have already given up on him.

It was a small sample size, but I personally was disappointed in his size, motor, and nose for the ball. I was more impressed by Jones in all those areas.

Robinson is supposedly more athletic, but he seems like a guy whose athleticism only emerges when he is wide open for a breakaway dunk. He didn't efficiently use his athleticism to accomplish much on the court. Compare him to Landry as rookie, who would come off the bench and just dunk all over everyone and finish at the rim with ease.

I see what you're saying, but is it a huge risk if you trade Thomas Robinson for the best move (or cap-clearing move) you can get? Rockets are a young team, but their core is not really that far off from win-now. Robinson looks a long ways away. Even if you swing and miss on Dwight, that cap room has value in terms of flexibility.

I may be wrong, but I'm not sure T-Rob would contribute to the Rockets next season if he stayed.

I've been thinking for a long time now that we need to package T-rob and Lin (and may be an expiring contract, or two, to make the money right) in a sign and trade for Josh Smith, then we could sign D12 outright to a lower than max contract. this would get us our big three and we would still have Omer the Bear.

Someone help me understand. We would do this trade just to chase Howard, or is this one of those Beasley deals where it's only done if Howard agrees? I'm assuming it would be for a future pick so it can be the latter and doesn't need to be related to this years draft?
