Poor dude...could be traded twice in his first year in the league. That's rough. But Dwight is the ultimate prize
Not sure how to feel about this, but I do hope that TRob picked up good things from the coaches during his recent practices. I kind of like all of the Rockets PFs, for different reasons, and would hate to see any of them go before they hit their ceiling. But honestly, just based on salaries, trading TRob would let the Rockets keep more of the other players. So there's that.
This just tells me that the Rockets plan pursue Dwight. Nothing more, nothing less… You can’t pursue someone you don’t have room to sign, right?
I don't really see this as an indictment of Robinson. Look at our salaries, how else would we free up room for Dwight? http://data.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/rockets.jsp
Does this mean that the Rockets don't think the salary cap won't rise enough? I was hoping it would rise to, say $60.5M so that we just needed to free up around $1.5M cap space and could keep TRob. and get rid of someone else (eg, Greg Smith, Olbrecht). Also, wouldn't we wait to trade TRob until AFTER Dwight confirms that he's willing to come to HOU? Why take the risk in advance? Finally, wouldn't we be targeting a second rounder or a first rounder in a later year, because a first rounder in the current year would have a cap hold?
I wonder what kind of value we'll get back. Since they are trying to clear cap space, obviously gonna be for a pick.
