Why the book readers can't keep their fancy book readin' knowhow to themselves, and out of a thread that discusses the show, I will never understand
SMDH. The post was made out of genuine excitement at finishing the book. It took me almost a year (3 if you count how long it takes to read 2800+ pages over 3 books) to get to this point. I get that you lack the patience to do the same. Book readers don't attack you for your laziness... I have no one to share that with as a book reader so I made a very spoiler free post to try and ramp up excitement for the episodes to come. If that bothers you, then do what I did for so long.... DON'T COME TO THIS THREAD.
read this Spoiler What he said was the equivalent to saying "the new Star Trek moving nothing happens in the first 90 minutes, but the last 30 minutes is so WOW." Then when I see it ... I end up piecing things together while watching it unfold. I didn't read anything beyond the "the first 750 pages" etc. Do you not understand that any ANY amount of review of the book turns into spoilers while we are watching the show unfold with knowledge of your review? Dude, we can piece things together. sheesh....just spoiler any review of the books. How hard is that.
Perhaps it has nothing to do with "laziness" (IE I have read GOT and COK) and moreso with liking the show so much that we don't want to know what happens by reading the books. I read the first two books AFTER seeing Season 1 and 2 because I don't want to know what happens because it is my favorite show. Are the books better? I would say yes regarding the two I have read, but I like the show to surprise me as there are not many shows on TV that I love and there are a plethora of good books to read all of the time. I don't think you gave anything away and am not chastising that post you made, but you need to understand that this thread is for the TV SHOW and the people who watch it to discuss, and the thread gets constantly inundated with book readers throwing up spoiler tags all of the time to discuss the book. Hell, someone even started a book reading thread so that all of you can discuss there in a thread ABOUT THE BOOKS, but people still choose to do it here (not saying you in particular...just letting you know the perspective of people who are getting pissed at you about your post). In fact, I accidentally hit a spoiler tag on my iPad a few weeks ago that gave away the big spoiler of this season that pretty much ruins what would have been an amazing twist/surprise (you know what I am referring to as you have read the book). While it is my fault for accidentally touching a portion of my touchscreen while doing something else, the fact remains that had that person not felt compelled to discuss a HUGE TWIST in the TV thread, this would not be an issue. Happy that you finished the book...happy to know that the action picks up big time (if you didn't know...all of next season is book 3 as well...they broke it up into two seasons)...but please don't become one of those people that start posting with spoiler tags in the TV thread.
Ya I get it. I also was spoiled by someone (not here) on the same storyline you were by reading posts online. As pissed as I was , it was my own fault for snooping in threads where spoilers can lurk. This is why I was so CAREFUL to not drop any hints. I know it sucks. Thanks for your reasoned response.
This doesn't really need to be spoiled but . . . whatever. Spoiler What if somebody didn't tell you that until 90 minutes into the movie, right before all the exciting stuff happened? Would it kind of not matter at that point? Because that's basically what he did.
It's really not a big deal. If anything it makes non-book readers more excited if they've considered it to be a slow season. And it's not like he told you before the season started "everything will be slow until episode 9, and then bang!"
lmao at my 'laziness'. I finished ADWD last year. I'm just not a dick who feels a need to go "oooo guess what's about to happen!!" in a thread about the tv series.
I would think that knowing there are 2 episodes left in the season and that each season usually ends with crazy stuff happening that you could of already assumed that without his post.
For the record, put me down as someone who doesn't think this season is boring. So, I can easily piece together some things when Book Readers tell me they were bored by the book. hmmm...you're bored by this? Oh, must be a lot of fighting and White Walkers coming up. No ****...but why say that will happen in the next few episodes when there is another year booked What?! There are only 2 episodes left?! Spoiler that! I don't even follow how many episodes there are, so I don't know when the action at the end will come. Spoiler
I am enjoying this season too. I have read the books, but I don't post in here because I don't want to feel tempted to say anything. I know that a lot of people haven't read it and that's how I was during the first season. But once that season ended I couldn't wait to see what happened next so I started reading and just couldn't stop. Now the wait for the next book to come out is about a million times worse than waiting for the next season on TV. It is fun whether or not you have read the books or not to analyse and pick apart the scenes even when people think it is "slow". The author of this book has essentially put meaning into everything and that has transfered over to the TV show as well.
I'm still trying to figure out how expressing excitement over upcoming episodes makes me "a dick". We are literally 10 days from finishing off this season. And by the way, I NEVER said "oooo guess whats about to happen!!" Lighten up Francis.
The other thread started was for the book readers. This one is regarding the show. It's generally common courtesy to not spoil shows/movies for people by revealing what happens because one has read the story upon which they are based.
