Who's been better, Cameron as OC or Marciano as ST Coordinator?

If special teams suck again this season, what are the odds Kubiak/Smith would make a change during the season?

You can argue that the Ravens move wasn't a big deal, but can you see the Texans making the same call in the same situation? I really can't.

In a previous post I was talking about variance. There are teams that play in a way that results in high variance. And vice versa. The Texans play in a way that tries to minimize luck.

Packers(Rodgers and their passing attack), Giants(ridiculous pass rush), Ravens(feast and famine QB with cannon arm) all give the feeling that "if things all line up they can win." The Texans with their methodical, safe approach is perfect for playing against lesser teams, but hugely unlikely to go on a spectacular run.

I find what you're saying laughable. Sorry. How are you calculating all of this? Are you pulling all of this out of your a$$? It sure seems like it.

Those teams give you that feeling because they've all recently gone on a Super Bowl winning run. You're either lying or delusional, though, if you thought the Ravens, for instance, were capable of it prior to this past January.

And keep in mind, the Texans did have a 15-1 stretch with Schuab as their starting QB, and there were a lot of people - they're all hiding now but they were here a year or so ago - who swore up and down that if he hadn't gotten hurt, Schaub would have led the Texans to a better regular season finish (I'd argue they would have beaten Carolina and Indy to finish 12-4) and a trip to the AFC championship game, if not Super Bowl in 2011.

I'm not hiding. I still think that's true. A healthy Schaub (instead of Yates) vs. the Ravens and we win that game. And there is no reason to think we don't beat NE the next week, considering how close the Ravens came to doing it.

I think last year's fade had more to do with our defensive injuries finally catching up to us. Cushing being out was a KILLER. We were running street FA's out there trying to cover all-pro TE's and RB's. And our best CB was never at 100% all year.

I think our defense (barring any major injuries) will be much better this year. Hence, so will our offense since it's built on ball control.

If this window closes with the Texans nothing more than a 10-ish win, second round fodder team... 2009 and 2011 will haunt us for a long time

I'm also holding out some hope that Schaub wasn't 100%, either. All conjecture and speculation - but there were a lot of people worried he wouldn't be fully recovered in time for the offseason... hopefully, his foot got worse as the season wore on...

Agreed, Yates played awful and the texans still were very close, with Schaub, I really think they would have won.

and yeah, people really doesnt understand the impact of Cushing injury, he was like the QB in the defense, and the leader, check the stats.

and at the end of the season, Cushing wasnt the only one hurt: we had McCain hurt, Joseph not 100% healthy, Sharpton injured.
