Agree. I don't get the widespread panic of an Asik-Howard front court. It would dominate defensively and I still believe Asik will improve his offense (I think Howard has peaked, but maybe he'll improve working with Mchale?)...but the point is, we can play either one the majority of the game with a stretch-4!! and then rotate Asik/Howard between the Center & PF positions depending on the game situation. Tons of teams have two big men up front, the Rockets can adjust.

Would love to acquire Howard and either Redick/Korver for an additional 3 point threat. DMO and Tjones would probably alternate at PF.

You might believe this, but you shouldn't pass it off as fact.

clutchfans desperately needs something to discuss. Invariable, we keep rehashing the same old posts and re-debate EVERYTHING to death.

Some of Clutchfans greatest hits in the order of frequency:

    1) Poll on whether or not Jeremy Lin should start
    2) Poll on whether or not Jeremy Lin sucks
    3) Poll on whether Jeremy Lin is poised to have a superstar breakout season and is definitely the next CP3
    4) Poll on whether LOfs or LoHs are worse
    5) Dwight Howard Would/Would Not make the Rockets a contender
    6) Chandler Parsons is so dreamy: Discuss
    7) Fire McHale
    8) Morey, the Evil Genius
    9) National Media Hates the Rockets
    10) James Harden stripclub threads
    11) Carl Herrera innuendo thread here

Asik's trade value won't go down if we see his rebounding numbers drop due to playing next to Dwight. We have to give other GM's at least a slight benefit of the doubt right? Dwight and Asik could absolutely work in certain situations. There will be times when the amount of ridiculous interior defense it would produce would be worth putting up with the spacing issues it could cause on offense. Ultimately will Dwight and Asik play together for 36 minutes every game? No. But it would be a nice way to close out a game when we're ahead (a major problem last year) and would represent a pretty significant mismatch for most teams to deal with. I think that ultimately guys like jones and D-mo would get significant minutes at the stretch 4 but your starting 5 probably includes Asik and Dwight. Either way you look at it though, you are guaranteeing that an elite defensive big man will be on the floor at all times, if not two. The way i see it is you could clear out the lane putting Asik on one end of the paint (right) and Dwight on the other (left). Then it's definitely a pick your poison kind of situation for opposing defenses. Even if they somehow commit to all three (unlikely) there are two other shooters left unaccounted for . It could definitely get dicey in there, but ultimately we would have the number 1 and 2 best rebounders in the league to scoop up offensive boards.

Again maybe it's just me but I really hope houston does not get Howard.... He is someone that likes to run when things get tough, that is not the makeup of a champ.... He is very whiny and gets even worse when he doesn't get his way... I know I am not in the majority but I think this will be a huge mistake if we get him.... If we do get him damn I hope I am wrong !

The other good part to this is the timing. Asik becomes a free agent in 2015, along with Lin, Parsons, Beverley, DMo, TJones, and TRob (White does as well, but I doubt his team option gets picked up for 2014-2015). This means the ONLY players under contract for 2015-2016 would be Howard and Harden....that's TREMENDOUS leverage for the Rockets. Either one of their current player's turns into an all-star over the next two years, or they trade them away for future picks and sign one of Aldridge/Love in 2015 free agency. Then, because you have Bird rights on all the players listed above, you have the freedom to resign any of them, even if it puts you over the cap. Obviously they would have to decline options/trade players along the way to clear the necessary cap, but still, the cap holds for Beverley, Parsons and all the young PFs would be relatively small.

Just amazing planning by Morey and the staff.

I think you have to hold on to Asik until Howard proves he is fully recovered and stays healthy. You see how they work together, rotating them around so they don't have to play next to each other for more than 15 minutes or so, and then make a decision at the trade deadline.

The only way I'm dealing Asik is if we get a legitimate top 7 or 8 PF in return or some other damn good pieces.

Dwight isn't exactly the brightest guy, so just because he wants it to work doesn't mean it will.

Because of a lot of his value coming from being underpaid, the longer we go, the less that has value.

Get Dwight. Trade TRob/GSmith and 14 first rounder for rights to Cody Zeller. Draft Ledo or Bullock in the 2nd round. Trade DMO/TJones/RWhite/JamesAnderson/Ohlbrecht for a freshly signed Paul Millsap. Sign D.J. Kennedy or Andrew Goudelock, Re-sign Delfino or Garcia to Room MLE, sign a couple other guys to minimum salary deals

    Lin/Beverley/Goudelock
    Harden/Ledo or Bullock
    Parsons/Delfino
    Dwight/Asik/Zeller
    Millsap/Zeller

    2 minimum salaries

Gasol is def. a threat in the mid range...it helps to have that at least.

Now if Asik could develop a shot like that...deadly

I don't like it. You have pretty much traded away all of our 2012 rooks. At least one of them is due to break out this upcoming season.
