I hope they call him up to AA soon.

The funny part is that he is still around the average age for single-A, so it's not like he is facing younger competition.

The A ball coach said he'd probably only be there for about a week. Can't imagine he'll spend more than 2 weeks in Corpus either.

    Organization sweep! Again!

    I think Jonathan Singleton's ready.

    Recap

Oklahoma City and Omaha was rained out

This game will be made up on June 23, the next time that Omaha is in town.

Tonight, Asher Wojciechowski will look to rebound from 2 rough outings. He'll take on Ryan Verdugo at 7:05.

Corpus Christi 5, Northwest Arkansas 4

That's 7 wins in their last 8 for the Hooks. All of these games have been played against the two Arkansas teams. They fell behind 2-0, then put up 5 unanswered, and finally had to stave off single tallies in the 7th and 8th from the Naturals.

Jorge De Leon withstood back-to-back solo shots from Yem Prades and Carlo Testa in the 2nd to throw 4 pretty good innings. Those were the only 2 runs he allowed. De Leon allowed 2 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. R.J. Alaniz allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and fanned 4 in 3 innings. Sergio Escalona worked around a run in the 8th to pick up the 6-out save. He allowed 2 hits and struck out 2.

Prades and Testa put the Naturals up 2-0 after the 2nd, but a 2-run double from Max Stassi in the 4th tied it, and one batter later, Enrique Hernandez brought him home with the go-ahead RBI double. Erik Castro finished 3-4 with an RBI double of his own in the 5th, and he would score on.... yep, another RBI double that came off the bat of Jonathan Meyer. All of these happened with 2 outs in their respective innings. Both of Stassi's hits were doubles. Castro also doubled twice. Meyer joined Stassi in the 2-hit club in this game.

The Hooks will be looking for the sweep in the series finale. They'll send out Jake Buchanan and Carlos Quevedo to get that sweep. The two of them will take on Jason Adam. First pitch is at 7 PM.

    Lancaster 9, Rancho Cucamonga 4

The Jethawks got their 8th win in a row by completing the sweep of the Quakes. Despite falling behind 2-0 after the 1st inning, they seized control of the game soon after.

Well, everyone contributed in some form or fashion. The Jethawks juggernaut pounded out 16 hits. Although Brandon Meredith was the only player in the lineup to go hitless, he still drew a walk and scored. Delino DeShields and Joe Sclafani both went 2-6. Preston Tucker extended his hit streak to 13 games, as he went 2-3 with a double and a 3-run homer (10) in the 7th. He also walked twice and scored 3 runs. Telvin Nash put the Jethawks on the board with a 2-run homer in the 2nd. He then went back-to-back with Tucker in the 7th, sending out a massive solo shot (9). This is a brief description of that 7th-inning blast:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>The list of impressive @<a href="https://twitter.com/tnash100">tnash100</a> homers grows… Just hit one off light pole just to left of CF. Easily 480 ft. and has the press box buzzing.</p>&mdash; Jason Schwartz (@jasondschwartz) <a href="https://twitter.com/jasondschwartz/status/339958938885840896">May 30, 2013</a></blockquote>
    <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Matt Duffy was 3-5 with a 2-run double in the 6th, Chris Epps was 2-4 with an RBI double in the 4th, Tyler Heineman was 2-5 with a double, and Andrew Aplin singled and scored.

Tyson Perez was a bit uneven in his 4 innings, as he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Michael Dimock had a 1-2-3 5th on 6 pitches. David Rollins tossed 4 solid innings of his own, as he allowed a run on a wild pitch, walked 1, and struck out 4. No hits allowed.

The Jethawks will return home to begin a 4-game set with Visalia. Kyle Hallock and Luis Cruz is the pairing for game 1, which will start at 7:00 Pacific. Their counterpart for Visalia is TBA.

Quad Cities 2, Kane County 1

Jonathan Singleton is quickly making short work of the Midwest League... the River Bandits are finishing out the month strong, winning their 5th in a row.

The River Bandits' offense in this game consisted of solo homers from Teoscar Hernandez (3) and Singleton (2) in the 6th. Singleton also added a double. Joining him in the 2-hit club was Rio Ruiz and Austin Elkins. The River also had a steal (4).

Mike Hauschild threw 5 shutout innings, allowing a hit, walking 2, and striking out 5. Colton Cain tagged in and proceed to throw 3 scoreless of his own. He allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and fanned 4. John Neely gave up an unearned run on 2 hits in the 9th, but he was able to snuff out the comeback, picking up his 8th save of the season. He struck out 2 in the 9th.

QC will look for the sweep as they send out Jordan Jankowski and Brian Holmes to try and get it for them. Their opponent will be Jose Rosario. First pitch is at 7:00.

Besides for Comer, Musgrove, and Phillips, who are there any interesting prospects still at extended training waiting on short seasons to start?

What's the deal with Houser? Why is it taking him this long to progress beyond rookie ball?

Adrian Houser is only 20 years and has only pitched one complete summer short season, for the second of the Astros' three summer short season teams. This year I expect Houser to pitch for the top summer short season team, Tri-Cities.

The field at Quad Cities was deemed unplayable and their game with Kane County has been cancelled. This game will not be made up, as the River Bandits and Cougars do not play each other any more in the first half.

Depending on how they're throwing in EST, guys like Comer/Musgrove/Houser are also candidates to move straight into the Quad Cities rotation if guys like Hauschild/Minor/Holmes get moved up to A+. McCullers and Velasquez probably stay in A the whole season given their age and health concerns (with Velasquez), but those other guys are all pitching pretty well in A ball and are all age appropriate for A+.

Wojo's been pretty efficient tonight except for a home run he gave up to Xavier Nady, who's hitting .340 with 9 HR in AAA this year.
