James Harden is much closer to Steve Francis trajectory than to a top 5-15 player to ever play the game who has multiple championship rings.

So, chance is very minimal to highly unlikely to probably won't happen.

    (Still, just possibly)

Harden can MAYBE get the kind of Kobe Bryant "Greatest Laker" label. but for the Rockets.

There's better PLAYERS than Kobe arguably with the Lakers, but he has more legacy than them to get in the discussion.

Hakeem is one of the GOAT's of all time.

Duncan isn't even the greatest at his position.

Chance? Sure. Will it happen? Probably not. I would say it's less than a 5% chance he's the GOAT Rockets player. We would have to see some big wins come out of him. Lots of titles too...

No. Not in my mind anyway. There is one Dream.

Simple stat, for those who consider PER valid.

Rockets single seasons at age 23, PER ranking. Harden at #3, very solid. Hakeem predictably #1

So Harden can put up STATS with the Rockets greats. Can possibly become best 2 guard after Kobe and D-Wade in a couple years, if not NEXT year.

But that doesnt mean he's gonna get the TRULY PRIZED hardware. And can he keep it up 15 years? I only put a sprinkle of hope in it simply because its my team that I WANT to do well. But just not seeing the Dream's spot being taken. We should be eternally grateful for opportunity in having him.

He's going to have to beat out Jeremy Lin first. Unpossible.

He would have to wins 5 rings and play another 15 years with Houston to get the title of "Greatest Rocket" but Hakeem appears far and away the much better player.

sort of whats going on with Kobe. Kobe is not better than Wilt, KAJ, or Magic, but he is considered the greatest Laker now just cause of the longevity and people live in the present.

Dream is one of the greatest centers of all time and he won a championship with a bunch of role players. Duncan has never done that and neither has Shaq _ that settles that debate...

Read my post again. Sheesh. or I'll spell it out for you.

Duncan averaged 25 ppg ONCE. Hakeem averaged OVER 25ppg (26-27 to be exact) 4 times.

Timmy never averaged 3 blocks per game, Hakeem did 9 times. Hakeem's averaged for his career was 3.1 blocks per game and Duncan never averaged 3 once.

Tim Duncan never averaged 1 steal per game. Hakeem averaged 1.7 for his career.. only one season did he NOT average at least 1 steal.

Nothing wrong for suggesting this. He has accomplished alot only at the age of 23. If he works hard and adds more moves to his game and becomes a reliable defender he might be able to. But this is up to him.

Harden needs to give us 7 or 8 years of 26/5/5 with at least 2 rings and 2 mvps to be in the conversation. God knows he will never win the Defensive MVP.

Harden's PER last year with the Rockets doesn't qualify among the top 20 Rockets PER seasons all-time (a list dominated by Hakeem). I know you've used the "age of 23" constraint in your query, but just sayin' ...

He also wasn't panned to be as good as he was in college.
James is still young. Who knows maybe he'll have a godly late growth spurt and become the next Jordan.

Even tinmac would agree that Harden isn't anywhere close to MerGady in his Rockets prime.

Since 1982 defensive MVP has only been awarded to a guard 5 times (with one guard winning it twice) and the last guard to win it was Gary Payton darn near 20 years ago. Cooper and World Peace have won it but I believe those guys to be small forwards and not guards.

Centers and Power Forwards usually take home the Defensive MVP because those positions more times than not are the anchor of the defense. Since 1987... Jordan, Payton, and World Peace are the only none centers or PFs to win the award. So is there really a concern for Harden to win defensive MVP...?

Let's just hope the kid's defense gets better. And ironically his defense was good in the playoffs and his offense was off...

I wouldn't put my money on it but I sure hope so. If harden turns out to be the GOAT Rocket when compared to Dream. That mean he is going to be one hell of a basketball player. Wishful thinking and def not a knock at DR34M. Never that.

Not really. Dream is a top 10 player of all time. Harden is never gonna reach that.
