http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...ess-8-medical-records-20130305,0,129597.story Not sure how this will effect the trial, I really don't get why she would lie about being 18, are women always this crazy about their age?? Also, does she deserve to be charged with perjury? They charged Zimmerman's wife for lying about how much money they had. I would like to hear a theory as to how being 2 years younger helps Trayvon Martin? A new twist!
I think anytime you show a witness to have a pattern of dishonesty it hurts their credibility on the stand.
Ya, but what would have been HURT motivation for lying about her age? MAYBE I could see it if she was like 36 and told them she was 31 or like 29, but an 18 yo telling police she was 16? Was she scared of something? Did she think her dating a younger guy reflected poorly on Martin? Was she afraid they would check her record if she was 18? I dunno, I am curious.
According to the article, their attorney is the one that said she was 16, not her. She lied about being in the hospital during his funeral. I guess she felt she needed an excuse for not going.
Ah, you're right. Still, wonder why she lied about her age. As for her lying about being at the funeral, I am sure she will be taking the stand at some point anyways, so she can easily explain it. I doubt any juror would hold that against her, given the circumstances of her boyfriends death while she was on the phone with him.
This is going to be one ugly trial. http://abcnews.go.com/US/trayvon-martin-drug-photos-mentioned-judge/story?id=19271093 Trayvon Martin Drug Photos Can't Be Mentioned, Says Judge Lawyers for George Zimmerman will not be permitted to mention pictures of drugs and guns found on Trayvon Martin's cell phone during opening statements in Zimmerman's trial for murder next month, a judge ruled today. At a hearing today in Sanford, Fla., Circuit Judge Debra Nelson set some of the rules for what will be a closely watched trial scheduled to begin on June 10. Among a barrage of rulings by the judge today was a rejection of a request by Zimmerman's legal team to delay the trial. Zimmerman, 29, is the neighborhood watch captain who is accused of fatally shooting Martin, 17, last February. He is charged with second degree murder and has pleaded not guilty. Zimmerman's lawyer argued that Martin's mar1juana use and history of fighting was central to proving that Zimmerman acted in self-defense. View Full Size Courtesy Mark O'MaraText and photos from Trayvon Martin's cell phone, including images Martin smoking and a pistol, were released by George Zimmerman's defense team. "We have a lot of evidence that mar1juana use had something to do with the event," Zimmerman's lawyer Mark O'Mara said. "It could have affected his behavior." Nelson said that evidence would not be permitted in opening statements, but left open the possibility it could eventually be submitted during the trial. O'Mara also requested that all potential jurors, as many as 500 of them, be sequestered in hotels until a panel was selected for the trial. Scott Ponce, a lawyer representing media covering the trial, called the request a "sequestered jury on steroids" and asked the judge to permit the media to cover jury selection in open court. Nelson denied the request to sequester the entire panel of potential jurors, but has yet to rule on whether the actual jury will be sequestered. O'Mara also asked that the entire jury be taken to the crime scene in a bus with "blacked out windows." The defense objected to the motion, arguing that there was no way to recreate the exact lighting and weather conditions at the scene of the crime. Nelson rejected that motion as well. Another hearing to determine which scientific evidence, including information about the texts and photos found on Martin's phone, will be admissible is scheduled for June 6. The trial is scheduled to begin June 10.
Though I disagree with the ruling, and think this will be an ugly trial. Unless Zimmerman' lawyer really messes up, they should win the trial. But it looks like his defense can use them during trial just not opening arguments.
Really? You know all of the evidence? You've seen it all? Otherwise I'm not sure how you'd know that the defense should win the trial.
Wi out the benefit of the evidence, your opinion on this is just as valid as my opinion that 32 will be one of the lottery numbers next week. Not an opinion at all...merely a guess.
In his defense, the majority of his opinions here don't appear to be based on evidence, so there's nothing really different here.
What we do know is the media has messed this all up from both sides. Its completely unfair to the trial and the justice that should be served. Unless some damning evidence comes out, it seems its just two punks who tangled with each other. There are much more atrocities that should be in the limelight than this case.
Could be. But if one punk shoots another unarmed punk, it's still possible that murder was committed. I just don't think until all of the evidence is heard in court should the case be decided either way.
No way the prosecution gets a murder 2 on this one - should have gone for manslaughter, but that probably wouldn't get a conviction either. I think it's pretty clear Martin came after Zimmerman and started beating the **** out of him, which he probably deserved, but the end result (even after you consider Zimmerman inappropriately followed Martin) is self-defense.
