Olajuwon was upset that management wouldn't spend the money on players to make them real contenders. Management was upset with Hakeem and accused him of faking an injury. Hakeem was very upset because that questioned his honor which was important to him. Hakeem had a history of coming back early from injury and playing through them. Hakeem then demanded a trade from the Rockets. Apparently some people believe management's side of the argument even though this is the same management that forced Ralph Sampson to play while he was injured and shortened his career.
The Spurs organization during Duncan's career has been FAR SUPERIOR to the Rockets during Dream's career. Compare the rosters, it's a joke. Championships are a combination of franchise players producing & management putting championship caliber pieces around them. The Rockets organization failed Dream most of his career. Lebron left Cleveland for the same reason & now he's competing for the Championship on a regular basis. Dream stayed until the Rockets got it right.
Totally agree. Dream made those role players on the Rockets better. He was not only the star but also the gel that made it run smooth. Hands down he is better than Duncan.
FATALITY. what hakeem did was basically what kobe did and what Jordan did. the only difference is kobe and mj got the help while dream never did.

Horry: You played with Hakeem, what would have Hakeem done against the centers today? He would have killed them. Flat out killed them because he's quicker, he's smarter. You look at the centers now days, the only one with probably a lot of post moves like Dream is maybe Marc Gasol. The rest are pretty basic. They do the same moves over and over. With Dream, you never knew what would come out of his arsenal. He had so many moves. Thoughts on Duncan vs Hakeem? Compare and contrast. This is the biggest mistake people will make when they compare players: Tim won four rings and Dream only won two. There is no way in hell that you would take Tim over Dream. ...Dream could do everything Tim can do and more. That would be like saying I'm better than MJ because I have seven rings and he has six. We all know that's a crock. I hate when people want to compare championships to that. That's like saying Karl Malone is one of the worst power forwards in the league because he has no championships. That's not true. This is a team sport. You can't compare guys like that.
Why the hell is this a 18 page thread?! Championships be damned Hakeem is a better offensive and defensive player than Duncan. Higher scoring average, more blocks, rebounds, steals, etc. Look at the crap teams they beat in the finals. Lockout Knicks, Nets, Pistons, and the Cavs with Lebron and no one else. Where's the Jordan/Pippen Stockton/Malone Barkley/KJ/Majerle Payton/Kemp? The Spurs took advantage of the golden era of the NBA winding down. The East was a pile of crap post Jordan 98. In the west only Shaquille/Kobe and Dirk.
Overall in all of those playoff series against the Lakers and Mavs, the Spurs have a losing record from 1998-2013 against those two teams. When the Spurs did beat those teams, those were weaker versions of the Lakers and Mavs.
The needs of the Real Rockets fans outweight the needs of the fake Rockets fans. JR, your name is JR.
This is.....WITHOUT A DOUBT...the single worst basketball related post I've ever read on Clutchfans. Just astonishingly bad.
Don't worry, Real rockets fans don't come from a country called WHAT <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UPHuE5pDlEs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
THIS!!!!!! Anyone who thinks Duncan is better than Hakeem needs to pull their head out of their ass and wake the hell up. That is all.
I agree. It's the reason I will continue to mercilessly ridicule any opinion regarding basketball that comes from What's brain, including his sorry Mavericks and Grizzlies franchises he is so enamored with. Single worst basketball-related post indeed.
Duncan is the better rebounder? They are extremely close in that regard, and Olajuwon has led the league in DRB% and ORB%, something Duncan never accomplished. Olajuwon is one of the greatest all around players ever. That is why he has achieved the rare 5x5 6 times (Kirilenko is the only other player with more than 1) and a quadruple double (plus another one that was briefly recorded, but taken back away). 2 year prime? He was a legitimate star from 1984-1999.
Ralph's knee and cocaine are the reason the Rockets quit winning. They were the underdogs in every one of those 1st round matchups.
Tim Duncan is better because ha has 4 rings and Olajuwon has 2. LOL joke I hate it when idiots put rings to compare, instead of comparing players' game and skills. The reason Tim Duncan has more success than Olajuwon was because he has Gregg Popovich, who is a batter coach than Rudy Tomjanovich, and the Spurs organization gave him better players build around him. I'm not a homer, but i'll never, never, ever take Tim Duncan over Olajuwon. But i'll never take Olajuwon better than Tim Duncan either. Both are great players.
