There is a new version of the board game called Risk Legacy that is freaking awesome. It's the best version of Risk ever. You actually permanently alter the map with stickers and tear up cards and do all kinds of crazy stuff no board game has really done before. It has compartments in the box and groups of new cards/rules that are only to be opened after certain events. It's designed to (ideally) be played by the same five players for 15 straight games (games don't take nearly as long as the original version). The world changes from game to game. It is quite fun if you have a group to game with. We are on our second copy. Another amazing new board game is Eclipse. Board games rule.
I used to play Risk all the time. It's a lot of fun. You just have to have a lot of time. Online play is a natural. Thanks for the heads up, OP! I'll never get used to all the weird pieces they have now, however. I'm an old school Risk player. Keep the pieces simple, as Nature intended!
At least the annoying rolls factor is still there, couldn't take a land when it was 10-3, now just couldn't take one when it was 7-2.
Well the bad side of real-time is the site lags sometimes. The game was winding down, I had a chance of winning but the whole page locked up to what I assume is me losing right now.
yeah avchavana is about to give me the business. I wish I was able to cash in on my reserves but I don't think I have quiet enough of whatever color I need. Oh well
reserves work like the cards, you have to have at least 3 (same color or one of each color) the reserve setting is set on escalate, every time someone turns in a set the amount increases by (but can depend on the map) the setting can be set to escalite or flat rate, part of the risk is not knowing when some one can turn in once they do have 3 cards, also, if you have the territory of the "card" you get two troops in that territory
