What did they do during that hour to fill in time? Did the opening bands just continued playing?

Expect to be crucified by music snobs.

I enjoy LP (even their new stuff) and I'm a bigger fan of chester than
    STP.

Also, STP is the orginal CREED... flame suit on.

Nothing we were just sitting there waiting. I have a friend who knows someone who works at 94.5 and they texted him during the wait and said Weiland wasn't at the venue yet and this was past 9pm. He finally comes at af 10-10:15 and starts going on this drunken rant that didn't make any sense. It got to a point where finally the band started playing so he would just shut up.

I really don't have a problem with it, but why not just come up with a new name for the band? I would assume they could still do some STP and LP mixed in with the new stuff.

No kidding, how can they not see that Chester doesnt really represent continuity of their usual sound. Their probably too prideful in showing STP still can exist in name without Weiland, thinking changing the name would be "defeat".

Its quite alright to go "there" about it :)

Their first album, yes possibly. They were "Whats this PEARL JAM kinda stuff?" band at first (to good sales), but with some disdain.

After that they have noticeably more range than Creed. Creed has more consistent, personable songs approach.

(I didnt understand the Creed bashing, nor did I understand the Nickelback bashing. I don't get into that.)

I agree especially today when successful hard rock bands are few and far between.

So there are people out there who follow band soap operas enough to know who the "whiny b**** bags" in bands are?

I just stick to the music and never read articles about band dynamics. Hell, Neil Young is a big douchebag in person, I was once told. Like I care.

Good for them. I like Chester / Linkin Park and I used to really like coked up Weiland / STP. Sadly, Weiland sans the cocaine is talentless.

You don't understand it because at least for those 2 bands you have bad taste in music.

Just because people out there enjoy soulja boy doesn't mean he is good.

A few months back Weiland claimed he was getting back in Velvet Revolver and Slash quickly shot that down saying I will never work with him again. There was a radio interview and Slash said he asked around and the reason Weiland was trying to get back in VR was because STP was about to fire him and a couple months later the announcement was made Scott was terminated.

The whole Chester becoming the singer was a huge surprise because they played the weenie roast in LA and there weren't even on the bill and no one there knew they were going to play until they walked on stage.

Yea, let's discuss taste objectively some more.

    That'll be fun.

Taste is not as subjective as you think. Most people when they become enthralled with something gain a deeper love and appreciation of it.

Some people become Wine Enthusiasts, some people drink Franzia and never branch out. So you can call taste subjective if it makes you feel better but there is clearly a standard involved with the perception of refinement.

I do agree with that. And I agree with moes too. With ALL sounds, different tones, inflections and rhythms produces different results and responses. Some sounds pleasing and positive and some agitating. With music and art, its in the finer details of that same thing.

(There's that popular music graphic out there which goes how music tastes and genres DOES correlate with IQ. Its WHY people judge the HELL out of other people based on music tastes. Cuz is there IS "something there" to it.) And yeah it is some false equivalency to say that Soulja Boy and The Roots are practically "the same thing" in the end.

I did NOT say I was a big FAN of those bands. I don't count tolerating 1-2 decent songs out of a catalog of 200 as being rhythmically r****ded.

I was saying I don't get OVERLY "snobbish" about it. Not because I can't discern good from bad, but because I don't get much anything out of it. (AND there can be a lot of "group think" on who the accepted anti-example/whipping boys are. Huge reason too I don't do it much).

I have actually lost friendships over this kinda thing and I don't think its worth it, what can I say. If people want to suffer for the art, go at it. I just have a line in there somewhere.
