I thought the movei was outstanding. I've been a fan of Star Trek since the original series. My only negitive critique on the movie is that the action moved so fast that the character interactions that were so great in the 1st movie were too few and far between in this one. I still loved the movie though and some of the scenes were just outstanding, perticularly the scene at the end of the movie between Kirk and Spock. Cumberbatch was a great villan and certainly stole the scenes that he was in.
I saw it last night and thought it was fantastic. I liked it as much as the previous movie. The only part I really didn't like was .... Spoiler I thought it was silly how Kahn's blood can magically bring back the dead because of its' "regenerative powers."
great movie. Almost as good as the first. Casting superb. Can't wait to see what this guy does with Star wars, but Star Trek, that will be hard to beat. Not only did he reboot the whole thing, he took it into the stratosphere.
It was enjoyable but not on the level of the first. And I felt cheated by so many elements and plot lines being rehashed from previous films. I would rather have something a little more fresh. In any case, I imagine I will like it on repeat viewings, but first time through it lacked the emotional punch of some of the other films in the franchise.
Watching this tonite and Furious 6 tomorrow/ and can finally take a break until After Earth or Superman comes out...
I enjoyed it as much as the first one. I have practically no experience with any previous star treks and from reading this thread it sounds like that's probably why I liked it. Solid action/sci fi movie, Star Trek or not.
As for the spoilered thingy, no kidding! I had problems with that, and with several other things, being a fan, like crash and some of the rest of you, of the series since it originally ran on the tube (and it really was a tube back then). Yet I still enjoyed the flick immensely. Go figure, drox. ;-)-
Red Letter Media dudes did a review. Not Plinkett but whatevs. I loved the movie and disagree with a lot of their criticisms but still entertaining. http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-the-bag-star-trek-into-darkness/
What happened in the 1st movie? I forgot. Something about Nero? Who's Nero? Also, what happens in Wrath of Khan (haven't seen it in years, I just remember someone putting a bug in someones nose). And what's the bigger draw for you nerds, the Klingons or Khan? Didn't Kirk have a son in Wrath of Khan that died or something? Didn't Spock die in that movie? Someone tell me, I ain't watching that ****.
Star Trek Continues. First episode was released 3 days ago. Not the best timing in the world. <iframe width="960" height="720" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3G-ziTBAkbQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Just watched it, not blown away like I was with the first one. Wrath of khan was the only vintage ST I've seen and I liked all the nods. A few questions: Spoiler The torpedoes had warheads but no fuel system, and it seems Adm. Marcus knew this and Khan knew it once he heard how many torpedoes there were. So how would Marcus' plan for hothead Kirk to execute Khan work? And I assume the warp drive was made to fail in Vulcan territory to start a war, using Kirk as a stone to kill 2 birds. But it that's so why bother to show up in the dreadnaught?
Saw it a few days ago...I liked it a lot. I love how Abrams moves his movies along...can't wait to see his version of star wars. It'll be a great change from Lucas' crap with its horrible writing and stagnant scenes.
Can you name them for argument's sake? No need to spoiler since I think everyone visiting this thread has already seen it.
Dude, that's awesome. It's got all the great cheesiness of the old series. I never even knew they were doing this. Rep!
Spoiler For 1 . . . what is the logic behind launching a missle at a guy that can simply teleport himself across the galaxy? I mean .. he teleported from Earth to Klingon Space There was never an explaination about why he could not do it again. This site does a good Job of pointing out some other weak points. http://sequart.org/magazine/21469/star-trek-into-darkness-hostile-to-star-trek-intelligence/ Rocket River
