So dwight believes that the lakers are trying to get I'm to stay by smearing him. Making it harder for him to walk away because of how he would look? Wouldn't this just drive him away?

Here's the article and audio(interview with Forbes' Tony Nitti) they were referring to.. http://www.sportstalkflorida.com/dwight-howards-financial-incentive-could-be-in-texas/

Thanks for the full recap JR.

To me it really sounds like Dwight fully understands the situation. It does seem like it's LA leaking info to put pressure on Dwight to stay, not a smart move IMO.

I'm starting to feel like DH will leave LA for a place he truly feels like will best fit him. Houston has to be at the top of this list. I'm starting to believe that you will see a more focused Howard which can only be good. So here's to hoping Houston will be his destination of choice.

I think the only positive that Howard took from LA was learning to take the game seriously. I don't think he liked how Kobe treated him, but it still registered.

His agent or financial advisor should have all that stuff lined out for every option based on the particulars of Howard's finances beyond the available info on contracts. An article in Forbes should mean nothing... Unless Howard's agent and financial advisor aren't truly representing him.

    Good point.

We may have missed the playoffs if it weren't for that.

He is a quality backup Center, capable at playing at a good level for 15-18 minutes a game.

ESPN Dallas: Are the Rockets a bigger threat than the Lakers?

Sam Smith: Houston a nice landing spot (blah blah blah)

    And "RocketGuy"

A source with knowledge of the situation says Dwight Howard is "wide open" to Dallas. Mavs actually have the space to sign him, Rox don't.
— Bill Ingram (@TheRocketGuy) May 27, 2013

Thats not the assumption at all.

Stretch Provision on Jeremy Lin, bam done, needed cap space created.

I thought there was a moratorium on Bill Ingram nonsense.

BTW, the Mavericks have $42 million in committed salary. If the cap is set at a fairly generous $60 million, then they actually won't have enough to fit Dwight without making additional moves. In fact, it looks like they have less cap space than the Rockets.

Option 1. Play with aging big-man who, though solid, has only a few years left in the league

Option 2. Play with young guard rising into super-stardom and is arguably top in his position

    What do you pick?

Can you or anyone else elaborate on this "stretch provision"?

Edit: I read through Coon's FAQ's so I think I have an idea.

I'll keep my comments on Bill Ingram to a minimum because he's a waste and his father should've jerked him off down the sink all those years ago. That said, why he calls himself the Rocket Guy is beyond me. He only scorns Morey and praises Cuban.

And I've said it before, you can't reeeeaaaally be a Rockets fan and Mavs fan. Something has to give.

Yes, Dallas can sign Dho outright. And field a team of three post-34 y.o. players and min. contract dudes.

As if Morey couldn't create the needed cap space.

if Mayo/Marion both opt in for next season, Dallas looks virtually identical to Houston cap wise

Mayo is almost certainly going to opt out for a bigget contract, and even if Marion opts in, they can amnesty

    Rockets should not pursue Howard.
