Went to Stiles and Switch last week because it was too late to have La Barbecue. It started promising because the bark looked really nice. Unfortunately, it's one of the worst places I've been. The brisket and beef ribs tasted like they were crutched for too long. Tender but almost tasteless. Like eating roast beef with bark. Gross.
They told us they were going to be out of ribs by the time we got through, so I didn't order any. My friend behind me asked and they still had some, wish I got them, he said they were great. Pulled pork was still very good. Brisket was amazing! By far the best I've ever had, hands down. I had a meat baby this morning from all the food, lol.
That will be fine. I had someone hold a place in line for me when I went, but the people getting there around 11 still got food, although I think the ribs were sold out by the time they ordered. 9 is plenty early, 10 is still fine.
I had it Sunday... I beg to differ. Shoulda brought something with you from the start. Guys I was with had beer, girls had mimosas. Others in line were reading books and whatnot.
You are 120% wrong. It was more than well worth the wait. The brisket and ribs are nothing short of amazing. Wanted some sausage, too, but they were out by the time we got to the counter. Had some chairs and a 6-pack. It was a great experience and some amazing food.
The other 2 local BBQ joints on the TM Top 50 list were Vergies (never been to) and Corkscrew BBQ in Spring/Woodlands, which I've been to several times. Their brisket is top notch. Ronnie Killens just opened up his BBQ joint in Pearland, which I hear is pretty good too
Woops! Totally forgot about this. Here you go. My review: Got there about 9:30, line wasn't too bad. Still didn't get to eat till about 11:40 (the line moves so slowly) and the anticipation was killing me. Finally got up there to order and was greeted with a sample of brisket. Placing it in my mouth, I believe my words were "Oh Wow" because words failed me at that moment. I promptly ordered a pound of brisket, half pound of ribs and pulled pork and two sausage links. I also ordered 3 sandwiches for my boss (a condition of taking a day off, during the week, for BBQ). Total price was ~$65.00 which seems like an insane price for ordinary BBQ, but Franklin's of course is anything but ordinary. With all that meat to share between my wife and I, I assumed there would be leftovers of which I had brought an ice chest for leftovers and my boss' sandwiches. There were NO leftovers (save for the sandwiches). Let me give a quick rundown on the meats from worst to best. 4. Sausage - I think I read somewhere, their sausage is partially made with organ meat, which kinda grosses me out. Nonetheless it was still delicious, but compared to other places and the other meats on my table. It was a solid least favorite. 3. Ribs - my favorite BBQ meat that I eat pretty much everywhere. Franklin's ribs were great, but I have had better. 2. Pulled Pork - I actually liked their Ribs more but I'm a big ribs guy and not a huge pulled pork fan. However, this pulled pork was by far the best I've ever had. It was seasoned so wonderfully. 1. Brisket - WOW. Really, it lived up to the hype. I'm not a religious person, but I would compare it to a religious enlightenment. I bow down on my knees to pitmaster Franklin! Am I prone to hyperbole? Why yes, yes I am. Still, I can't really put into words how impressed I was at the brisket. Really I felt like a kid who had just discovered cookies for the first time. "This is great. I want more." In my next post, I'll rank my central Tx BBQ places.
