When free agency begins isnt there like a week before players can sign the actual contracts?

I can guarantee you that a quality backup 5 would cost way more than 2.6 a year.

Actually T-Mac did come to mind when I was thing of a veteran 2 guard that would take the room extension at $2.6m. But T-Mac's ability at this point of his career is uncertain, not sure if he can run the floor and play D in the rockets fast paced style.

I like your idea of Rip Hamilton as a back up 2 guard, he has recently played and we know his conditioning should be fine. He's a great shooter and that's what we need if Howard and J.Smith come. At best, I imagine him being like Jamal Crawford off the bench, instant offense. But would he take $2.6m?

Lets say July 10th has passed and dwight is still weighing his options. How long before you guys think we should move on to plan B?

July 10th is the first day you can sign contracts. Rockets will wait on Dwight.

So you're willing to forego any other big free agent names to wait and see where Dwight goes?

Unless its CP3, absolutely. Superstars trump anything and everything.

The question is not who Howard will sign with, its how many teams will get screwed waiting for him and seeing him stay in la. But it will be the lakers who will get the real dwightmare giving him $118 million and getting nothing from trouble for 5 years.

No one else will be signed or moved of any note until Dwight and Paul make their decisions.

And the Lakers can give him everything but a team that can compete, either now or in the future.

I agree with your assessment on T-Mac. But I don't think the market for Rip will be high. The only teams I could think of that might go for him are LAL, Portland, Utah, and maybe Dallas just because they're Dallas. I think we could nab Rip at a pretty low price especially if we had 3 stars on this team.

Even if lebron, Nike, lakers and time Warner collude to bring the lebron era to la in 2014? Dwight can ride lebrons cost tails and pretend he's one of the laker greats.

I was hoping the clippers would sign tmac last year so he could sit right next grant hill on the bench. Hill was lonely last year being vdn went 10 deep almost every game.

I know some times it can seem that way, but I'm pretty sure Dwight Howard doesn't live in Dreamland.

Tmmac has burnt way, wayyyyy to many bridges here tto be re-signed. Morey and Les had a very messy divorce with him. Tmac is still good enough, but it wont be here. Thank god for that to.
