Corporate data mining when the Xbox is completely off (Kinect remains on, as with the microphones implemented it as well) is a complete invasion of privacy by gluttonous corporations like Microsoft who use this data to make a quick buck.

Couldn't you just simply unplug the system?

Kinect microphone and camera apparently stays on while the machine is powered down.
The only way to prevent that is to unplug the system which is an unnecessary hassle just to secure your own privacy.

If we as people deem it a hassle to take half a second to pull a plug then we're hopeless.

If your set up is designed to hide the wires and they are behind furniture etc. in order to keep the room as neat as possible, then unplugging would involve moving furniture back and forth every time you wanted to play. That's more than half a second.

Good thing the campaign has started all over the Internet to make people aware of this "small feature".

You and Rezdawg take this way too serious. You guys must be invested in MS or their biggest cheerleaders.

As a developer - it has the potential to kill the used market - which for me is great news.

I also am not young, so have seen these things happen a lot, where folks announce something, people FREAK out about the worst case scenario and the final result is not at all what they think it might be.

I will wait for all of the details to come out before worrying about anything.

No, I just think consumers think they're entitled to too much. I never understand the constant complaining about various products. You either involve yourself in it or you dont. It's very simple. Has nothing to do with Microsoft or Sony or whatever other company.

Travel the world and appreciate what we have. As a nation, we complain about the dumbest stuff on earth. It's pathetic.

    This is a internet forum.

If it were as simple as "Buy it or not." then why discuss it either way?

I'm not supporting a product that doesn't seem very consumer friendly and then on top of that is intrusive to my privacy.

Also, this thread is about the Xbox One not traveling the world or the worlds problems.

Im not pointing towards your opinion about not buying it because it's intrusive to your privacy, that's fine...Im talking about those that get emotional over such topics.

Also, I was responding to the post that mentioned that I must be invested in MS or that Im their biggest cheerleaders...the only thing Ive said up to this point is that it was a smart business decision for MS to include an activation fee. As a consumer, it's not that good, but from a business standpoint, it was a good move for them.

Ahh okay. I never get too emotional about it, I just feel it's important that if people are unhappy about something then they should voice it.

I actually don't mind the activation fee...or what they are trying to do with used games. I understand they are trying to protect their profit.

The whole online thing (not always online but they will encourage it.) and this Kinect thing pretty much assures I'll buy a PS4 before this. I understand that there will be some kind of...modes for the camera for privacy...still don't understand why there isn't a simple 'Off' button for it then.
