Are endorsement income free from taxes and millionaires taxes in LA?

Wouldn't howard save even more money by coming to houston if his endorsements take off?

    Yes, you're missing a lot:

    1. Endorsements>Tax benefits
    2. Fegan and Addidas prefer he stays in LA over Houston
    3. LA would be rid of all its current contracts in 2 years
    4. LA is a big name city with all the perks and privileges that come with it
    5. Lakers have had a history of being successful, and getting players to come there and play with their superstars. Houston has one 2nd round appearance in like 10 years.

DH is just using and Atlanta to wheedle more influence and power over the LA org. Look for him to sign there long term once he gets what he wants.

Um....... rings talk and I garantee he has a better chance at here in Houston plus we would respect him. Trust me bridges are now burned in LA watch he isn't staying there. If Howard cared for all that then why did he just Dias the organization? Just Saying

    1) are endorsement incomes taxed?

    2) does fegan work for Dwight or is it the other way around?

    3) so you think Dwight should wait 2 years for LA to reload?

    4) what are these perks and privileges of a big city you speak of?

    5) history is history. The future is now!

What is Dwight using Houston to leverage from LA? Fire MDA? C'mon, it ain't happening. Look at my sig below.

Endorsements regardless of where a player plays as long as they are entertaining superstars ex. Durant, Lebron when he was in Cleveland, Mcgrady during his superstar period, Melo in Denver

Endorsements are so much better in LA that D12 actually went from about 11 million worth of endorsements in Orlando to about 2 million in LA. Endorsements follow success and are not based on where you play.

I don't think this is fair. If the Rockets and Lakers win the same number of games and have the same number of stars, then those star will get paid more in LA.

What's happened here is that Dwight is in a market where endorsements will be shared with Kobe as well as maybe Gasol to some extent. In Orlando, he was the man, and he was winning, so he got a lot of endorsements.

While I think it's true he would make more off endorsements here, I think that's probably because Houston is a fairly big market and he is not competing for endorsements with a Kobe (although who knows, maybe Harden will get there someday).

Winning certainly helps, but it is not everything. He could conceivably make more in endorsements next season now that he has become more synonymous with the Lakers brand and they might win more games than they did this season.

Those endorsement dollars will still be taxed in LA though.

Rings talk? Should kupchak bring Howard back into his office to show him all the trophies again? This is just my opinion, but Howard on rockets and Howard on lakers will both result in second round loss to thunder or spurs next season. With lakers, there's always that magic that makes them a contender...call it help from officials, but its there. David stern knows that an Nba finals with lakers in it will always draw more viewership and ratings. He's throwing a bone to small markets this year, but it will be back to business next year. I don't think anyone on this board will disagree that nba does what they can to help lakers get further.

Howard also needs to share with cp3 and Blake griffin as well in la. Houston rockets are a popular team in china because of Yao, haven't read through all the posts, but I'm surprised nobody here brought up that angle. But Howard will certainly play second fiddle to Jeremy Lin in Chinese market...even though Jeremy Lin is hardcore Taiwan.

It's worth living in Hollywood if you can afford it. It's nice out there and you have to pay to play. Rich people may complain about the taxes but notice how they don't leave. When you're making that much money it may be worth to pay the price to live there and rub elbows with the rich and world famous and Howard would be the biggest sports star in town. Here in Houston he would be competing with J.J. Watt and the Texans, and Harden and Lin for attention (and Parsons on ladies night).

I'm sure money can be an issue, but when he has THAT MUCH MONEY _ when it comes to living in L.A. or Houston at a yong prime age, it may not be... And if he's as good as many make him out to be _ why would the Lakers be in a rebuilding process. They'll have plenty of cap space next year. They just may need a new coach.

I don't think Howard spends a lot of time in China. It's a good thing as far as making money but he'll be known in China without the help of Jeremy. They watch other NBA players too. Check the jersey sales.

Is that the pitch? We didn't get swept in first round this year? Gotta put an asterisk on that for beverly taking out westbrook though...good work by the way. Dwight will not help a borderline playoff team any further than second round. Lebron could take rockets to a title probably, but Dwight is not at that caliber.

Harden, Lin, and parsons will all be better next season, but so will clippers, warriors, and grizzlies. The west is ultra competitive and getting even more competitive.

You guys have no idea what you are saying. Endorsements profitted by top NBA players has little to do with the size of markets they are playing in; it has everything to do with winning! (See Sports Illustrated)

    Miami, 44th in population
    Endorsements 2012:
    - LeBron $39M
    - Wade $11.5M

    Total: $50.5M

    LA, 2nd in population
    Endorsement 2012:
    - Kobe $19M
    - CP3 $3.8M
    - D12 $2.4M
    - PGasol $2.1M

    Total: $27.3M

All the endorsements income combined by all the players from LA wasn't even close to LeBron's, who played at 44th biggest market. I believe his income actually went up by about $10M after winning the Finals last year.

    Winning means EVERYTHING, including endorsements!

I beg to differ Lin, Harden, Parsons Howard (Whatever they do with Asik) we will be a better team. We were the youngest team that made the playoffs, add more experience, and a few more pieces watch out for these Rockets. We will be a force that nobody would like to face

Griz have a couple players that are aging aka Z-Bo, Clippers will always be overrated with no post player. Warriors okay they will be good, but remember we almost broke the record for most 3s against them. Rockets Future > Warriors, Griz, & Clips
