I used to take these for a little while during high school, and it made me feel way different and more focused. I did not have ADHD then, I was only given it by a friend. Okay after a while when I stopped taking it, i noticed a difference in my studies in high school. My grades dropped, I felt dumber, etc. I believed it was the Adderrall that messed with my brain and killed some brain cells. Now i have read online that it has done no such thing to other people who have used it, so maybe it was something else that attributed to my "dumbing down" in high school. Probably too much counterstrike? Anyway, fast forward 7 years later, i am having problems focusing and being productive every day for the past two months. I am considering taking adderall again due to this but still kind of hesitant due to my past experience. I created this thread to gather more info about people who have had their experience with adderall. Thank you.
If you take Adderall in high school you'll be up to 80 mg by the time you reach med school. Classmates of mine who started in undergrad were taking massive doses in med school since the efficacy wore off on them. There is no reason to be taking it in high school. Even the AP level classes are child's play compared to anything further down the line. If you insist on Adderall, take the alternative Strattera instead as it does not give you the euphoric feelings that lead to addiction.
I don't feel all that sleepy now, my issue currently is my lack of focus. Hence, i am considering adderall.
Try this its natural and works well. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=VS-2073 Don't do drugs man.
I took it one time while pulling a 24 hour shift at work to stay awake. Worst decision eveeerr! I didn't sleep for like 2 days straight after and crashed so hard when I finally came down. That stuff is ridiculously string.
Most likely you will find it in a whole foods/ Vitamin shoppe. If you live in the houston area it is easy to find. Back when i used to work at the Vitamin Shoppe some guy recommended it to me and it helps with mental clarity and focus.
If you really want to go this route, consider Vyvanse. It eliminates a whole lot of the addiction potential, as well as really smoothing out the really herky jerky dose response curve. If you absolutely have to do adderall, never fail to respect it's potential to suck you in.
Loss of concentration can be from many things Depression, poor sleep, anxiety, stress, electrolyte abnormality, poor nutrition, hypothyroidism and a ton of other factors. First I'd see a primary care, get labs and physical and then proceed to a psych. After you've been cleared of medical causes they can see if its more psycho/social and he may prescribe you a non stimulant first with possible OTC ginkgo and herbal stuff. If need be you can go onto adderal, and other stimulants. Of course drug dependence and use/abuse and combining with other meds will factor his decision. Drs have dea on them when they precribe class 2 drugs and they monitor dosage and quantity. Also it will show on your med insurance if you pay via insurance and may be brought up later for job/school needing medical/ drug records. If you need it go about it the legal way as you don't know what your getting from kids, expired, laced, dosage etc. I just did my psych rotation so I see this a lot but there's a little protocol involved especially since your older. Kids usually need 2 surveys from 2 areas such as (home/work/school) to get a diagnosis. In the end if you get on it a lot can be attributed to placebo ( feeling dumb) when not on it. It doesn't really hurt you unless your doing large doses without a "drug holiday" aka stopping use time to time. If you get paranoid, sob, schizo/ manic attack, those would be reasons to stop but it's not too bad. It is as ducting because it works on your reward center but taking a low dose or extended release really curbs that. Hope this helps and good luck.
Modifinil is better. It's a smart drug like in the movie limitless. Originally prescriped for narcolepsy. Adderrall is bad news.
