There are either a bunch of rich, ignorant, not helpful people in this thread, or... very good comedians.

How dare you NOT want to help the low-income peeps get to their work easily and faster? What, did you expect for the inner-loop people (who are the ones who mostly ride Metro) to get "skipped" by this rail expansion?

WTF, help these people, don't stop them from stimulating the economy and helping Houston's progress.

You'd be surprised how many developers have snatched up the land north of downtown that is now considered "ghetto". Probably won't be considered that come Super Bowl.

The light rail is focusing on that part of town for a reason.

I agree that these areas are the ones who will benefit the most and are
more than likely to take advantage of it.

As far as the peeps in this thread, I don't think they are rich, ignorant
or have a warped sense of humor. I think that often times when people
speak anonymously they become pretentious and condescending.
Transparency is out of vogue in this day and age....:(

Right you are...I always thought the Fifth Ward was bound to the west by I-45, but apparently it's further east.

Anyway, I ride the bus along the red line into and out of downtown every day, and most of the surroundings are dumpy.

It just looks seedy, it is not too bad. I grew up there and still live by Patton/Fulton. Anything by Hardy and East of is ghetto though. That is when you get into 5th ward.

These are some houses and street view located near the Red line. It's not the Heights, Uptown, Woodlands, etc. Nevertheless it's not too bad.

that giant house is directly on the north line its on fulton and canadian i believe maybe a street after canadian and has been there since the early 2000s the other big house with the woodgate is on robertson. .. there is a ton of development along the redline from main to boundary, lofts and business strips, riding fulton all the way to hcc northline.. i grew up in this neighborhood which is considered north central/moody park/lindale. its middle class to low income families.. i will walk up and down these streets at night, you people act like its the SWAT or something..

looks like they are just tracing the freeways with rail lines. I would love to see this map with the neighborhoods shown.

    Good catch!

The house I grew up in about four blocks from the Cavalcade and Fulton stop.

My dad has personally sold some properties on Fulton by Fiesta. Investors are still bothering him but he is not selling any more of his properties. The value of the land is cheap but has been rises every year. Great investment properties with huge returns in the next decade. By the time Super Bowl comes these neighborhoods are still going to need a lot of work. The gentrification process is going to take a while on the Red Line considering the East Line is more attractive for developers atm.

That's good to hear, but with all the gentrification going on in Houston, it makes me wonder where all the lower income families will be forced to reside next. I believe parts of 3rd ward are undergoing gentrification. If i had to guess Alief will continue to be a hot spot for relocation of lower income families. The North side of Houston along 45 is one of the worst views in the city! Once you pass 610 going north on 45 it looks like you traveled back 30 years

That's a banquet reception hall and a wedding chapel in the back. It's NOT a house. I've done photography and video productions there and I know people on the following street.

They have one by Moody park too with a camera crew. Also that banquet has a family living there. It's still a house despite being used for revenue. Either way it's not an indication of the other houses in the area, it's an anomaly.

If metro was smart, they would look to extend that northline rail through Airline to Greenspoint mall. They can eventually add a line to the airport and possibly to the Woodlands.

They are working on getting lines WITHIN the town and where people go to work and use the rail line most first. Is that dumb, or what?
