I had no idea this war was raging about Larry Dierker, I haven't been following the Astros since they moved to the American League. But I will chime in to say that Dierker is probably my all-time favorite Astro. If the Astros would put him back in the announcers booth, I might even start watching Astro games again.

There's not a war. There are Astros fans who appreciate a person who has spent many years in a public role for the organization, warts and all. Then there's Granville who claims we're the ones who are emotional when he's the one freaking out about Dierker having sour grapes when he previously didn't get a position he wanted. But no, he's not emotional at all. And emotions in sports?? WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!? SPORTS WERE DESIGNED TO RENDER NO FEELINGS AT ALL.

Hmmm, Dierker owes my cousin-in-law's husband $20, so perhaps he is Granville.

No war....just little hearts get broken if not everyone thinks Dierker is special enough to demand that the Astros beg Dierker to unquit.

Once again, your original post regarding Dierker in this thread is you don't understand the Dierker love, especially considering you didn't grow up here when he was a player. We get that.

Then when different posters start explaining why there is love and respect for Dierker, you start arguing their points.

So, you essentially ask a question. You get answers (whether or not the answers are 'valid' in your mind is irrelevant, because it is how the posters feel). You reject the answers.

We get it. For whatever reason you don't like Dierker. If it is because he refused a job he didn't want and took a couple of jabs at Postolos or whoever - fine, that is your right. That being said, in this thread, the admiration, respect and glad he is back with the Astros organization vote is winning "whatever" to 1.

The one good thing that has come from this thread is that after almost 4 years of benefiting from this site, you finally decided to feed the tip jar.

You see... this is a forum. People respond to things you write. You or I can't expect others to always respond the way we'd like to. Sometimes your answers get rejected, so what.

And Dierker took jabs and quit like a baby knowing the Larry "Circle" Jerkers would come to his rescue whether he was wrong or right.

Is that what has turned you so anti-Dierker? It's got to be something else. I can't understand why you are so vehement against Dierker because he turned down a job he did not want and voiced his opinion in public.

His contract was up so he didn't "quit".

Semantics, he terminated his relationship with the Astros because he felt that he was above doing studio work and public appearances.

I didn't like Dierker as a manager, I felt we wasted our time with him at the helm during arguably a period with the best talent we've had. If we had a real manager back then, we might have won more games in the post season, which is what ultimately got him canned.
