Not knowing every single detail of what is going on... That sounds fair

Yeah, but that is not happening, we compare our product in entertainment value, and movies are a good gauge.

$10 for a 2 hour movie ticket, where $60 gets you dozens of hours of game play.

Games are a much better value for entertainment time.

The better plan is to bypass them and go straight download, that way there is no used market at all, no hard copy, no disk to break, just straight download.

It is the way PC's do it, and will be the way consoles do it, folks are thinking a little too much about the past in this thread....the future is all bits and bytes...no physical goods at all.

Maybe, but sounds like M$ is thinking too much in the past then, too, with the measures they are implementing.

I got my HBO app for Xbox plus my Xbox smartglass for my Ipad 1.

So when the Kalesy is some foreign city, it shows me on a map on my smartglass

I am totally pumped for Star Citizen. That's pretty cool that you're working on that game, DD. I am also a huge Wing Commander fan.

Have you been able to play around with the Oculus Rift in Star Citizen yet? I think I am going to purchase the Oculus just for Star Citizen.

And Gamespot is does used games in a dirty way. I will go buy a game (like NBA 2k13), and then two weeks later I'll get an email from Gamespot offering to buy it back.

I am actually curious why they didn't go to straight downloads... I'd be fine with that, despite it not making sense with my previous arguments. I don't get what they've decided to go with here, seems like a half measure.

I have, and it is amazing, but it also kind of makes me a little sea sick.

We have 4 of them here.

Thanks for posting this. It's probably ridiculous, I hadn't heard of this as I don't pay much attention to the Xbox, but that is pretty impressive. Posting on the living room tv now using iPad as a remote and controller. Little janky here and there but overall very cool. Interactive GoT and game details are a pretty cool start.
I don't know about Xbox one really yet but stuff like this kind of interoperability I like a lot. Somewhat similar to using an Apple TV but it is also very smooth interface wise.

Yeah, but the PC digital retail market actually have good pricing and the platform with multiple online distributors lends itself to competition (among GOG, Steam, Amazon, and etc.) and create some REALLY competitive pricing. This lowers the overall cost of the games where lacking the lower priced used game alternative is not a big deal.

Given that there's only one distribution channel on each console (Sony/MS) I'm not sure I can see that happening. How often do you get really good sales for games on the playstore\app store? They happen but it's much more infrequent.

Am I the only one that likes having a hard copy of a game? I'm probably in the minority since I like collecting old games.

The value of "retro" games have jumped quite a bit in the past few years. I was shocked to see that a complete copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64 goes for over $100 easily. I remember picking it up for $10 when the N64 was on its way out. My copy of Snatcher on Sega CD is worth over $200 now. Maybe I should sell it for a PS4.

You're not in the many minority compared to hardcore gamers. Casual gamers might not care though.

I think we have more details on how used games work:

Either better or worse depending on how you look at it.

That is a ridiculous way to look at it. I can also wait to rent the movie for $1.25, or have unlimited streaming from Prime/Netflix/Hulu for a really low entertainment cost.

Heck Apps are usually free and gives you dozens of hours of game play.

I usually wait on my video games until I can get them on sale. I rarely buy used games, unless it is easier to get that way (older games).
