Devon Energy is a little smaller that Chesapeake and we will be donating $2.5 million. But $1 million from Chesapeake is still huge. A donation of that size will be able to do a lot of good.

Probably not, high net worth individuals usually pay the AMT tax rate.

It's a great move from KD. I just wished one day one of these stars will donate in private, without the media. Still a major donation from KD. Props!

What a great guy. So hard to not like him even after he beat us.

What if it was Durant that got hurt instead of Westbrook? I fear OKC plans really will go through with their threats lol.

From what I understand, he didn't announce it all. The Red Cross did.

    I donated $10.00

    KD donated $1,000,000.00

He donated 100,000x what I donated

I was doing the math yesterday. Even with what he makes, I'm guessing around 30 mil with endorsements, it's still a nice chunk of change.

No way I'm donating 1/30th of my salary.

that's not even taking into account the people he pays. I'm sure his agent takes 10% of all that, personally chef most likely, sure he gives his parents money. If we say he made 30 mil this year, I bet he actually netted about 20.

What about commercials and stuff? There way more than 20mil/year in the pocket.

I don't know much about taxes (or KD's finances), but if most of his income comes from salary and endorsements, wouldn't that be ordinary income subject to the income tax?

if you do itemized, your entire state income tax can be used as a deduction. For KD, obviously that's much bigger than the meager standard deduction. Also high net worth individuals tend to have significant capital gains income every year which is taxed lower regular income tax.

Chesapeake has a market cap of $15b. Durant's net worth might be in the low 100 millions.

if a star donated in private without media, and you don't know, how would you know if there's a star that did it? maybe there are stars who do it but you just don't know
