    Gasol can be pretty good.

The problem with him is that procedure, it's the same one that Granger had and didn't stick (and has a less than 50% chance of working), plus Gasol had it done to both knees. And no one will know until August at the earliest.

Gasol has played it perfectly from his standpoint, no one will really know anything until after the circus is over, and the lakers may need to keep him anyway (it reminds me of how mcgrady used surgery to block a trade).

Dwight has the upper hand on Houston slightly.
Only because Morey is chasing a second star.

Would Dwight be a game changer in Houston - Definitely.
Can Houston do well without him - Sure can
Can Houston acquire another star (J.Smith) - Sure can.

Give Dwight the upper hand in negotiations with Houston but Morey definitely ain't gonna give away the store.

I don't see how Howard has the upper hand on Houston. If the Rockets offer him a contract he either excepts it or he doesn't. With or without him the Rockets will be fine. Howard needs the Rockets more than the Rockets need him. Morey has several options and good ones, rather going with Josh Smith, making a trades, or standing pat and waiting until next year... Howard has options but but really only one good one.

    Hahahahaha

    Here's a couple more:

    4) how can Dwight resist the warriors? Jerry West consulting, Mark Jackson, Steph Curry, David Lee... Are you kidding me? What a great organization and teammates. Will he have fun playing for Golden State... hell, yes!

    4) how can Dwight resist the mavs? Mark Cuban, Rick Carlisle (looks like Jim Carey), Dirk ... Are you kidding me? What a great organization and teammates. Will he have fun playing for Dallas... hell, yes!

    Can't argue with your reasoning.

Makes me think that Howard's people were leaking his feelings about Houston to see how receptive Houston FO and fans were to the idea of him coming here.

But that's silly because cyberx said Howard was irate that his inner circle leaked his feelings about Houston... hence the fake Golden State story.

I wonder who the other teams were (I figure he leaked different teams to different people to see which one popped out, does it really surprise anyone that Fegan is a fan of Machiavelli? lol)

I wish people would fetch a clue before cozying up to a keyboard.

The Warriors can't get him and Dallas would consist of Dirk, Dwight, Marion, Vince....and cap crap.

    @ROXTXIA

slestack11 has already admitted he lives in LA, supports the Lakers, and is here to troll. Don't get upset at the stuff he's posting, its all from the perspective of a Laker fanboy.

    just ignore.

I think cyberx meant, earlier in this thread, that Howard was irate that someone leaked the GSW piece. GSW piece was put out there in the first place to see if the guy (leaker) would take the bait. He did :X

As a side note, glad to hear that was planted and that Howard's interest in Houston is genuine. I think he'll do his due diligence and look at various teams, then realize at the end of the day, it is a two horse race :p

    Sorry, you're right.

That guy in his inner circle that leaked the Golden State story must not be very clever. Surely, one look at the salary situation and he must ask Dwight... "Dude, how is this possible?"

I too am happy that Dwight is genuinely interested in Houston because of all the reasons stated previously... they make sense.

They can play, but that doesn't mean they can still play well.

There are only three players I can think of who played well at 40 or older in the NBA:

    Kareem
    Karl Malone
    John Stockton

I should possibly add Robert Parish to that list, as well. He was decent at age 40, although not what he had been earlier in his career.

Malone injured his knee at 40 years old while playing for LA. So, even him at 40 years old was not so great.

Stockton, as someone mentioned earlier, did play until early into his 41st year. And he did have a good playoff run at age 40. So, it's possible.

However, Stockton and Nash are totally different physical specimens. In 19 years in the league, Stockton missed just 22 games. All of those missed games came in 2 years. So, basically Stockton was a lock to play in 17 of his 19 seasons. Ironman.

Nash, on the other hand, is made of relative glass compared with Stockton's iron. Since he joined Phoenix in 2004, Nash has missed 69 games. 32 of them came this year.

In general, injuries to 40-year-olds aren't "freak" injuries. Breaking a fibula as Nash did was a freak thing, but older guys' bodies don't often hold up, or heal up, as well as younger guys' bodies do. The hip/back injury Nash had at the end of the year is probably the kind of thing that will happen to him a lot more at his age than it would have maybe 10 or even 5 years ago. And especially given that Nash has a chronically bad back.

So, thinking Nash may imitate Stockton's play at age 40+ might be a bit optimistic. We just saw another 40-year-old point guard, Jason Kidd, struggle incredibly in the 2013 Playoffs. Nash's future may look more like Kidd than Stockton. Or, to use another example, it may look more like 40-year-old Grant Hill than Stockton.

Actually, besides Stockton and Kidd, the only other point guard I can recall playing to 40 years old or older was Bob Cousy, when he made a comeback for one year.

Starting a 40-year-old point guard not named John Stockton probably isn't a very wise decision for a serious NBA contender. Particularly in 2013. I am a huge Nash fan, but his play is on the decline and isn't likely to revive a whole bunch even after a summer of rest. He's just too old.

As far as Lin goes, his skill level is less than that of Nash, as has been pointed out previously. He's also 15 years younger and should improve this summer.

Lin is a fantastic pick-and-roll player and a great overall passer. Lin and Howard would almost certainly work well together in that respect. Anyone that can recall how many layup or dunk attempts Omer Asik missed this year that foiled Lin would-be assists can probably understand where I'm coming from.

Easily some of the dumbest posts I've ever seen on any forum on LakersGround.

Very interesting to see the information above. Tells me that Warriors and Hawks are out and the Rockets are in.

Could be LA or HOU or DAL.

    My opinion:
    Houston - 60%
    LA - 35%
    DAL - 5%
    Brooklyn - 0%
