? Well sure, everyone's salary is different in future years lol. I thought we were just talking about THIS offseason and their salaries next year. Parsons still only makes close to $900k for next season AND the following one. So he can't walk until the 2015-16 season (same yr Asik and Lin's contracts are up).

We won't waive him before then because that'd be dumb, though Bima had a great live podcast just yesterday about whether Morey might consider signing him to an extension in 2014-15, have him become a RFA, etc., but it would require some good faith from both parties in order to avoid the Cavs and Boozer episode (where essentially the same thing was done, but Utah swooped in with a HUGE deal and Boozer ended up signing with them...leaving the Cavs in the cold, when they could have just kept Boozer for one more yr on cheap salary haha). Bima thought Morey would just keep Parsons on this cheap scale through the end of his deal and then roll the dice in 2015 FA on Parsons.

I believe that if they decline his option, he becomes a restricted free agent, meaning we can match any deal for him from other teams.
So I highly doubt the Rockets pick up his option.

I can see some team throwing Boozer money at him, though, and who knows, he may have improved to make him worth that much..

Bima mentioned this on nba.com just yesterday. They could do this with Parsons next, NEXT season, but not this upcoming one I believe. If it is done too early, he would not just become a RFA, but would actually be placed on waivers, and of course be snatched up by another team within seconds lol.

In 1901, there was an oil strike at Spindletop that was so enormous that it led to two oil companies being formed to handle the event. My question for you is, with your gusher of misinformation over the last few days, what new venture do you have in mind for the surplus yellow and gold bullsh!t you are spreading around here? Keep us informed.

Parsons already hired Dan Fegan to try and get him more money. I don't think he will be happy playing for less than $1 million per season so there's a possibility that he is not going to be a happy camper after this season.

He signed that 4 year contract. If he lets his unhappiness affect his play (which won't happen), then he can gtfo.

How about this one. Harden had dinner with Dwight not to recruit him to Houston, but to ask him how he can also get to LA. Howard said it was tough, but you have to prove you are ready to win championships according to Mitch Kupchak. And he also reminded Harden that Kobe is going to be on his ass about practicing hard. So Harden asked Howard to put in a good word for him. If Harden can help the Rockets get past the first round next season, then the Lakers may go ahead and pull the trigger on a sign and trade Gasol for Harden deal in the 2014/2015 season.

It's as arbitrary as any other rumor that is being thrown around right now.

slestack, you really need to do some research before you post. Every time you talk on a new subject, your facts and assumptions are dead, DEAD wrong.

Do NBA players ever hold out in pre-season? I mean, it happens all the time in the NFL, but for some reason not so much in the NBA. Except for maybe Latrell Sprewell in the 90s.

Sure, but I mean, if the Rockets' two options are having another team have a happy Parsons for virtually free, or us keeping an unhappy Parsons for very cheap, I think we would still pick the latter.

I doubt Parsons is going to pout and not play. He does NOT want that to be his reputation when his rookie contract ends. He'll play hard and hope to sign a juicy extension a year from now, or if Morey declines that, leave Houston for another better paying team 2 yrs from now.

I believe Parson plays ball hard because hes a fan of basketball, not because of the Money, or maybe im just a fan, who over looks character flaws that are prevalent in some people, or maybe im just cynical. Regardless, CP plays for the game, not dat cash.

I swear some people on this board are in denial about the REAL possibility of Dwight coming to Houston. I think it's because you got your hopes up once and you don't want to be burned again.

I believe cyberx when he says the Golden State Wariors story was a fake to flush out whoever has been leaking his TRUE feelings about going to Houston.

    1) cyberx has been breaking news only to be proven right by the media afterwards.

    2) you have to be foolish to think the GS story had any credibility, the team is about 16m over the cap and they are going to trade for Dwight? Head check! You might as well say NY or Brooklyn are in the running. Hell, screw the rules, everybody is in the running for Dwight. Fact is, there are very few teams in the running and Houston is ahead of the pack.

Another thing... Phil Jackson is not going to be coaching again!

    1) it took him 3 days to think about it this year

    2) he's been doing the rounds on his book promo tour and repeatedly said "that ship has sailed". Maybe a front office job, not coaching. I recommend Brian Shaw!

    3) he also said, "Jeanie is happy in her marketing and finance job, she wants nothing to do with basketball.

So those thinking that Jim Buss (the owner) is going to fire himself so Phil Jackson can replace MDA as coach and Howard will stay... All in the matter of 5 weeks... I say GTFO!

    I disagree with cyberx

cyberx stated that Lakers still have the upper over Houston with regards to Howard. I don't know if this is cyberx's opinion or from some source but I disagree.

    1) All of the things that have been reported about Houston have merit... What does LA have? Lifestyle? Legacy? Wtf? The desire to chase a ring trumps lifestyle and the ghosts of lakers past. C'mon! Seriously? Howard can jet set to LA or wherever anytime he wants and especially during off-season.

    2) D'Antoni is staying. Howard ain't gonna be happy playing in that system.

    3) Lakers are OLD! Nash 40, Kobe injured, Gasol final year, MWP... Seriously? Better future than Houston? Lakers will break down in 1/2 years and then rebuild, they will not challenge for a championship in Dwight's prime.

    4) how can Dwight resist the rockets? Morey, McHale, Harden, Lin, Parsons, Asik... Are you kidding me? What a great organization and teammates. Will he have fun playing for Houston... hell, yes!

So I will stick to my original percentages...

    Houston 45%
    LA 40%
    Other 15%

    Houston has the upper hand!
