Others have already mentioned this, but LAL need to shed salary, and presumably plan to do so if they are moving Gasol (in this hypo). We would have the room to get Gasol. We can give them a pat on the back for the trouble, or maybe a young PF. NO WAY would we choose to give up either Lin or Asik for Gasol lol. Just shooting ourselves unnecessarily in the foot.

Sporting News: We embarrass ourselves with an article that shows we don't know the CBA

That's a great idea. Lakers would take Harden for Gasol's expiring contract. And I believe that trade works out with the CBA rules too.

There actually was an LA Times article around last season's trade deadline that said the Lakers and Rockets were engaged in a package to send Gasol to Rockets for a Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons. I don't know who came up with that one, but I'm sure it was the same source that said Dwight Howard is intrigued by Houston Rockets.

    Question Clutch Fans...

Who do you think is better? Healthy Lin or healthy Nash? Nash had a freak accident, with a summer to recover I can see him really doing great things.

I am just asking your opinion.

Well this thread certainly took a nosedive in the intelligence department. Thanks for that.

Nash of course. He's a future Hall of Famer, and even now with his injuries he's still a better player than Lin.

Hard to say. Offensively Nash is better because he is a lights out shooter and takes care of the ball. Defensively, Nash is as bad as it gets, and being 40 won't improve that situation.

If Lin improved his shot, I would take Lin.

The obvious answer there is Nash, but that's only if you're guaranteeing the health of Nash throughout the entire season. The fact is that at 39 years of age, that's a near-impossible guarantee to make. This season was proof of that. All the minor little bumps and bruises will add up, and on someone that old, the body will take a beating. Skill-wise though, it's not much of a debate.

    Thanks guys...

Gasol I think is a better player than anyone on the Rockets not named Harden...

Just an opinion, I am neutral.

Id say Lin.... but thats a bad question here because most think Beverly is better then lin here.

Lin had similar stats to nash this...and will only get better (first year starting)...nash is declining, is old and who knows what you will get from with another year under his belt.

also moving foward you have no idea what the lakers will have minus kobe, nash, and gasol... there is no guarantee they add another star player in 2014

but i guess it doesnt matter what we think on howard.

Who I'd take over who, health not used as a factor but age yes.

    Nash> Lin
    Kobe < Harden
    MWP < Parsons
    Gasol > Asik
    Howard = Howard

    Lakers bench <<<< Rockets bench
Morey's ability to find gems is the secret. HE can do thing that no one else in the league can and this is completely build a new bench in a heart beat.

I can't wait for the Parsons/Howard pick and roll, with Parsons playing the stretch 4. Not many power forwards are used to defending the ball-handler on pick and rolls.

I agree. I think Gasol would definitely be the second best player on our team, behind Harden, even if we take him as he is now (i.e., no promises of perfect health for 2013-2014).

Nash, on the other hand, I would only take over Lin if you can magically guarantee his health. But as Fyreball mentioned, thing about Nash is he is 39 yrs old...health is the one thing that is shakiest by this point for him.

    Harden> Gasol
Lin > Nash (because age and upside for lin...nothing but downside for nash)
    Parsons >>>>>>>metta
    Asik> ???
    Beverly > blake
    Dmo, T Jones, Smith, T-rob > clark

flexibility to make yet another move...also in rockets corner.

We have a lot more to to sale Howard on AS IS...but then have assets to actually improve even more. Lakers dont.

    Healthy Nash hands down... but

if i was building a team today I'd take Lin. mainly because who knows how much longer Nash is going to play. Lin has shown some bright spots and only has room to grow. If I was a PG short of having a contending team, then I'd definitely take Nash for a championship run.

Thanks for all your info btw. Can't wait for July!

Harden is a better player than anyone on the Lakers.

I think Parsons is closer to Gasol than one might think at this juncture in their careers.
