It's impossible to construct a contract like that. You really should try to educate yourself on the CBA before you come up with these wild notions.

If anything they're inflated by our pace, he only took 17 shots a game. I would think if anything he would get easier shots with Howard on the team.

Why are we all talking about different seasons? Iggy and CP3 are FAs this offseason, not next yr. Why would their books being cleared next yr matter? Sure apron rules don't apply then, but again, why would this matter to Iggy and CP3?

I would imagine there are DEFINITELY rules that prohibit a player from say taking ~$1M this season and $19M the next just to get $10M a season hahaha. If only salary cap restrictions were so easy to bypass...

And even if Iggy would sign for $1.3M or so, LAL can't offer it to him if they are over the apron as the exceptions would not apply to them anymore (not that Iggy would even sign for that amount just to join LAL).

Are you serious? No offense, but are you sort of just making things up now? KD joined the 50/40/90 club this yr! (if you know what that is)

Virtually ALL his stats are better than last yrs...what in the world makes you think he was better last yr than this one? Like, what factual basis are you basing your opinion on? He has a higher FG%, essentially same points, essentially same rebounds, more assists, much better 3 pt %, much better FT%, and had small improvements everywhere else. I am confused.

    You are wrong

    Period

The new rules dont START till this coming season(July 1st), and they will continue to be the rules EVERY YEAR till it is time to renegotiate in the year 2021.

Really, go read the rules...everything cap related you have talked about is wrong.

And clueless. Considering with Howard most likely Harden shooting% will go higher because teams can just double Harden anymore with D Howard in the middle.

With the exception of assists, his numbers across the board were pretty much the same. 0.1 higher in points, 0.1 lower in rebounds, 0.1 higher in steals, etc...Those are regular season stats and he probably needed to carry the ball more with Harden out of the mix. But what happened in the playoffs really showed the gap between him and Lebron. In the previous season, Lebron and Durant were 1 and 1A, but after Westbrook went down in the playoffs, it was obvious that Durant was unable to carry the team on his back against Memphis (who should have won game 1 too) like Lebron would have. Hell, they were barely able to put Houston away after Westbrook went out. If D-Wade went down, I have no doubt the Miami Heat would still be the team to beat.

So unless we are judging players in a fantasy league, I'd say Durant was a bit exposed this year and the expectation is that he's not in Lebron's tier anymore. And all I'm saying is that he did not get better this year, not that he sucks now.

So let me get this straight...when the Lakers have nobody on their books except Steve Nash and Dwight Howard after next season, they will still have these apron rules apply? They will be well under the cap being that they will only have two players under contract.

you can't have balloon payments outside the gilbert arenas provision (1st and 2 year RFAs).

Maybe you should stop posting for a while and try actually reading the posts of those who clearly know this stuff.

A source familiar with Howard's thinking says he plans to test free agency and has considered the Lakers, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Golden State.

Nothing remains binding, though. The source added Howard's main concern involves "what team he feels has the best chance to win championships, has the best team and system around him." The source also stressed Howard has not and will not ask the Lakers to make any moves on his behalf.

    Thanks for posting that article.

Seems to me that Lakers are doing a bit of PR to counter all the Rocket's articles that have explode recently. They are obviously worried and this counter PR move gives credence to the pro-Houston narrative last weekend.

    My favorite parts...

"I have absolute and complete confidence," Kupchak said. "Players don't have to like coaches. They just have to play hard. In L.A., our coaches get evaluated on wins and losses and not whether our players like them or don't like them."

    D'Antoni is staying... advantage Houston

The source added Howard's main concern involves "what team he feels has the best chance to win championships, has the best team and system around him."

Houston of course DUH. Easily best system and team for Dwight.

The source also stressed Howard has not and will not ask the Lakers to make any moves on his behalf.

See Ya LA! I'm leaving! I don't care who's coaching there, cause I won't be there!

After all, Kupchak believes Howard will end his NBA career with a Lakers retired jersey and a statue. Assuming, Howard continues wearing purple and gold, of course.

Oh please come back Dwight. Oh please Oh please Oh please. We'll retire your number and give you a statue.

Fact is, Dwight is going to be in a team that's crumbling and will have to spend Dwight's prime years rebuilding.

    Can you all chant...

    TWO MAX NO TAX

    TWO MAX NO TAX

    TWO MAX NO TAX

    TWO MAX NO TAX

    TWO MAX NO TAX

golden state? i'm not sure how they can pull it off, they've got some salary issues, and they're kinda cheap, but if they could move everything around (read ditch all those contracts), man.

Actually, Miami's playoff run last year was very shaky when Bosh was out. Very possibly would've lost in the conference finals if Bosh hadn't recovered in time

Can somebody explain how Golden State would be an option for him?

If Wade goes out, LeBron still has Bosh.

If Harden was still on OKC, then Im pretty certain the Thunder wouldnt drop off as much with Westbrook's injury.

I still don't have confirmation that the Lakers will not have any opportunity to sign anyone due to the apron clause in 2014/2015 after they only have Steve Nash (probably retiring) and Dwight Howard under contract. The Lakers will just be penalized indefinitely until they change the CBA rules? Doesn't make any sense to me. As far as I know, they have 1 season (next year) to get creative and the following season is a cleared out book.

Here's creativity for next year for the Lakers as they can try and add on the cheap to compliment Howard, Kobe (probably playoff time), Pau, and Nash with:

Nate Robinson, Elton Brand, Martell Webster, Kyle Korver. Obviously will have to convince these guys to take less money than other destinations, but maybe Time Warner can promise them some supplemental income for their own show on the Lakers channel. Even I have to admit the Lakers channel is a bit lame right now, but I'm sure they will fill it with all sorts of Lakers related game shows and reality shows like the Yankees do in NY. Right now, all they have are backstage shows featuring Dwight Howard pretending he's one of the Lakers greats.

nothing realistic i can think of, a lot of altruism could do it, but too many player options of way too high cost.

They could in 2014/15 but who? The Apron really only applies to s&t's, so i'm not overly sure why they'd be doing s&t's if they're what, 25m? under the cap

but what i bolded would come under cap breaches, none of those guys are really any good and if their incomes actually got supplemented like that, there would be hell to pay.
