A Child's Garden of Grass (The official handbook for mar1juana users), by Jack S. Margolis and Richard Clorfene. Illustrated by Jack S. Margolis. This marvelous opus was first published in 1969, which was when I bought it. I think I still have my original copy somewhere, although it has been a while since I laid eyes on the thing. A great read, especially now, being historical and all, and what I remember the most about this tome is this quote, delivered by yours truly from memory, so forgive me if I'm off a word or two. "If this book does nothing else but introduce you to the ancient game of Go, it was well worth the purchase." It took me a couple of months to search for and find a Go game in Houston, but I finally did, and man, was it a gas to play. Still is. If there is one game in this world worthy of going head to head with Chess for the title of best strategy board game, it is Go. I consider Go superior to Chess, if just barely. A long time Chess player when I found A Child's Garden of Grass, it amazed me with just how elegant, powerful, and complex the game is, and that there could be a game so like Chess in many ways, yet seemingly completely different, and that it easily would become the board game I played the most for the next decade, and beyond. Go is played by two people, just as Chess is, and has been played in Japan and China from time out of mind. Emanuel Lasker, master Chess player: "The rules of Go are so elegant, organic, and rigorously logical that if intelligent life forms exist elsewhere in the universe, they almost certainly play Go." If this post does nothing else but introduce you to the ancient game of Go, it was well worth the read.
Once you read the body language book, please take this to heart: much of how people act around other people is based on their own internal issues and hangups. Don't base everything that their body language tells you as a reaction to you.
