I'm sure people buy used games still. But there's a reason why the initial launch of games like COD and Halo are in the millions. In the end people buy new games all the time. I haven't bought a used game in years... I imagine it to become like PC games. When I buy on steam I don't buy used games -__-
If a game is good then why buy it used? That's what it comes down to with me. Why buy GTAV used? I know I'll get my money's worth and I know it's possible that I'll be playing the game a year off from it's released.
Screw your rights, the people in the video game rental business, and their jobs. M$ needs money. They got passed by Apple. After I beat GTAV I want to sell it. Wtf am I gonna do with it after I beat it? Use it as a door stop? Piracy was declining and losing as the preferred method. M$ is gonna bring it back to a whole new level.
You got it all wrong. The people who pirate games aren't the one screwing the workers. The one that are screwing the workers are their cheap BOSSES. Even when a company rack in half a billion for their games. Most workers are either on contract or straight up annual salary and you don't earn a penny more even when your company is making a killing. Only the big guys will get bonuses.
I think I'm squarely in the Xbox camp for now just because the games that I like tend to be more on those consoles. I can't abandon Halo and Gears now even if wanted to. The used game thing kind of sucks, but in time people will get used to it. I wonder how it will affect gamefly and redbox. I was actually considering redbox for Bioshock this Summer cause I know I won't replay it when I finish (if I can find it in stock). Will I be able to do that in the future with it still being cost effective? In any case, most games I buy these days are new and games that I can see myself playing again. Plus, If I pay 60 bucks for a game that takes 30 hours to complete or for a typically 10hr FPS, that's a better deal than going to a 2 hour movie and shelling out 10 bucks.
Damn I used to take my 64 and even Xbox on long trips if I didn't have to drive. So that won't work anymore but then again I'm the driver now. Either way Internet connectivity is stupid. Once a day. Funny how they tried to downplay it tho
The only other way around it is to withold content from users with used games, where they don't get the full experience, but rather a chopped down version unless they unlock it for a nominal fee. This way Gamestop will make a little less and us developers will finally get $$$$ owed to us for creating a product that gets many more plays than the initial purchase. DD
All of this online crap has nothing to do with the consumer. The companies are doing it for their own benefit only and that's it. TO sit here and talk out of both sides of their neck is hypocritical. Just say what it is, its just strictly a business move and about the $$$ All of this brand loyalty crap should be out of the door. Most of the fluff they presented you either already have it, or dont need it.
GTA is the best game for just rampaging through the city. The rampaging is more fun that the missions, in my opinion. I played Ballad of Gay Tony for about 4 hours the other day and only completed one mission. People just kept talking smack on the way to start the mission and I had to correct the situation, with things getting out of hand most times. I still play GTA4 all the time and cannot wait for GTA5. It is a game I will play for five years (or however long GTA6 takes). Xbox One is not exciting me. I am already definitely getting a PS4. I'll only get the Xbox One if it has some amazing (non-Halo and non-EA Sports) exclusives. I WANT MY GTA5!!!
Another thing...I don't ever buy used games because I like to reward the game studios that make the games I play, but I still support used games. I never sell back a game I like, but I love to be able to sell back a game I hate. Assassin's Creed 3 is a perfect example. I really didn't like it even after putting in a good 8 hours, so I took it back and got about $30 bucks for it cause it was so new. With Xbox One, if you buy something you don't like, you're stuck with it.
Greed. Plain and simple. Should car companies create cars that can't be resold. What about houses? You build your product and you sell it. You get what the market brings. Game makers stick buyers with crappy products and to DRM to prevent a secondary market is nothing but greed. You should be ashamed.
99ers work hard and they earn a paycheck. People who work in video games do it for the love. Too bad the cheapskates don't understand that
ya thats one thing im glad about, ppl will get paid that deserve it and piracy should hopefully decline. im sure thats a reason a lot of these companies fire ppl left and right, its not because the product isnt good but the sales dwindle for these smaller publishers.
LOL, really I would like to see the games he has worked with. Since I consider myself being a moderate gamer. Or even apple apps.
I beta tested Xbox Live, I had a Xbox, I have had like 4 360s. I have tons of history on my gamertag, I love xbox live, and...I likely will be buying a ps4. (Did I mention I've NEVER owned a playstation?) Them requiring a camera (with an infrared laser no less) and an array of microphones that are always on/as well as connected to the internet was a deal breaker. I've always lauded their innovation, but I've read their latest "privacy" statement; yeah, not happening. I'll take the more powerful console made for games.
Xbox will have dedicated servers for every multiplayer game. Unless PS4 can match that...game. set. match.
