What are some natural remedies to depression and suicidal thoughts? Taking crazy pills the rest of my life is not an option.
The Definitive Book of Body Language I read this book last month. It was almost too much new information on how I could see subtle clues on what people were really thinking. I can easily steer a conversation the way I want now (although I usually don't) based on subtle cues. There's also info on courtship signals that once you know them make it easy for you to spot if a woman is interested from her stance, the way she sits, holds her arm, etc. It's an easy read and I'm about to re-read it to reinforce the info. I highly recommend it.
Is there a more stereotypically formulaic and unhelpful thing than a self-help book? Do ppl really try these?
Basically if you are a pessimist, you'll constantly feel like crap because you are constantly releasing bad chemicals into your body. It's fairly well documented that prolonged stress will shorten your life. It's not even debatable. Few things in phycology have a stronger correlation than stress and life expectancy. Here's a book that outlines it. The author uses this method for mild to even manic depressant people that need medication. It's working great for me to reduce my stress levels. http://www.amazon.com/Feeling-Good-...8&qid=1369258803&sr=1-1&keywords=feeling+good btw, here is a cliff notes version. If it resonates with you, read the above book. http://lifehacker.com/5980491/try-t...rcises-to-improve-your-mood-and-reduce-stress
i'm not one that owns a ton of books, but i own this and need to pick it back up. never read it. was a bit tedious, but i need to give it another shot.
Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz is life changing. http://www.amazon.com/Psycho-Cybernetics-New-More-Living-Life/dp/0671700758
It's all about perspective. For example, if you walked in and your SO were reading this self-help book, would you complain? Even if it's garbage, they're showing motivation to improve at something. Spoiler
Read that other link instead. The book goes into a lot of details with examples plus techniques. That said, I skipped the last half of the book because it deals more with stuff that doesn't pertain to me (like being suicidal).
