That is what I would do...

CP3 isn't a lock to sign with the Clippers either... People forget...

Lakers are high on Irving but were disappointed at them getting the 1st pick last night, hurts their chances.

I would have agreed until I saw Chris Paul pushing for a black coach  ...not a certain coach...just a black one.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard...and I am pretty sure no one wants a part of that level egotistical way of thinking.

Thats a team killer mentality right there.

Sweetie, I don't know what's going on. These reports, I have no idea what you're talking about. Me wanting a coach fired? I don't get involved with that. Not in Orlando, not here in LA either. Sweetie, I'm out in Lake Tahoe. All these media reports saying this or that, I don't have the slightest clue.

Marginalized? I have never used that word in my life. What does that even mean?

Ken Berger, Sam Amick, Dave McMenamin, who are those guys?

Just let me drink my Johnny Rockets chocolate milkshake out here in my cabin in Lake Tahoe, while I go fish.

    LOL

I would love CP3. But without the DH12+CP3 package, I don't see what makes Houston OVERLY compelling over the Clippers with Blake Griffin. Though coaching/ownership are big negatives in Clipperland. If the Clippers got a coach that CP3 was on board with, that might be enough for him.

There is a more compelling case for DH12 solo to Houston because of the MDA situation and the lockerroom astmosphere.

we havent heard any hint that CP3 is considering the rockets...and our coach isnt black. So I am guessing CP3 is a pipe dream?

Funny that Mike fired his own coaching staff perhaps in part to solidify his own position, but as it turns out, his action makes it that much easier for LA to fire him given a new coach would want his own staff and now the slate is clean and no one need deal with the issue on what to do with the assistants.

He didn't hire them. They were all part of Mike Browns staff and D'Antoni kept them so that the whole team didn't get even MORE shooken up than it already was... He never brought in his own assistants except for his brother. NOW he can put together his own group of guys... If he comes back ;)

Yep. Chris Paul is fast becoming one of my least favorite players in the NBA.

Back on topic though, would Buss really be willing to give up THAT much power just to retain Dwight?? He's basically being asked to strip himself of all responsibilities on the basketball side of the organization by Dwight and Fegan. Once Phil comes back, you KNOW that's going to be a caustic front office with all of the different power struggles at play. Phil wants nothing more than to be able to rub it into Jim's face that when the smoke cleared at the end of the day, HE was the one to be called upon as the savior. Like cyberx said, they did this for Magic, but Dwight is no Magic.

Hi CyberX.. I really appreciate and enjoy your information..
And respect everything you do to bring this info to the forum..

Do you think that Dwight Howard id using the Rockets as Leverage
or do you really think that Dwight is really thinking of joining the
    Rockets...?

Phil Jackson has gone on the record the last couple of days stating he is
    done with coaching...

do you really think that the Lakers will fire Datoni after they basically
let him fire Dwight's favorites coaches...?
Wouldnt they have stopped him before doing that.? Just doesnt make sense...

OK, he didnt hire them. But my point is that no one has to do the dirty deed if LA hires a new coach given Dan has already booted them.

This. I was also saying the same thing. I felt all along that Dwight's true intentions were to force lakers to fire Dan Tony and hire Jackson.

I hope I'm wrong about this but unfortunately, it seems Dwight wants the bright lights of LA than Houston.

Chris Paul is just like all these other stars, but apparently a better person, so he doesn't get any blame or hate, not yet anyways.

Chris Paul wanted out of New Orleans, Chris Paul wanted VDN fired. Chris Paul will be a part of selecting the next coach. Chris Paul will be a part of making roster decisions. Just like Dwight in Orlando(maybe LA too), just like LeBron in Cleveland.

And when the going gets tough or it doesn't work out, see ya! I'm out of here! I'm off to Miami, I'm off to LA. And don't blame me for that mess! Wasn't me!

IF the Lakers were going to Fire Datoni, the smart move was to let him go already...

Now it will all seem that they knee down to Dwight Howards demand, which
is the last thing they want anybody to think..

thats why the Clippers did it ASAP.. They didnt come out and say vinny is our
coach next year, they knew the players didnt want him so they fired him
    ASAP... Creates less drama...

Lakers came out and stated that Datoni is there guy and that they dont see any issues with Datoni and Dwight.. (If the exit interview where Dwight showed his displeasure with Datoni wasnt enough to fire Datoni) than what is???

Yah but the thing is if we sign Howard we dont have to worry about it because he is locked in for 4 years. Be like whatever dwight start yapping in 4 years then well listen

but honestly we got our superstar in Harden...and maybe we can trade for another one in love, and get good character guys.

I used to bash all the people that talked like this...but now I am starting to side with them.

Id rather be elimnated in the second round with a team of high effort good character guys that are TEAM first not me first...then go to the finals with these premadonnas causing drama all year.

I agree they may have painted themselves in a corner. But it remains to be seen if Dan is the pivot point for Dwight to leave, or demand Dan fired for him to stay.

To me, I think the other way around is probably more plausible. I could definitely see Phil Jackson teaming up with Fegan and Howard, and using this as an opportunity to strong-arm his way into the Lakers organization. With Howard wanting Phil, Jim Buss has no choice but to make a decision regarding his role on the team. Something tells me that Jim Buss isn't viewed in the same light, and with the same respect as Dr. Buss was.

Where's that hard-hitting Woj piece?? I bet he's got enough sources within the Lakers to be able to paint a pretty vivid picture.

First of all, Clippers didn't fire Vinny. They didn't renew his contract. Second of all, Lakers think D'Antoni is a good coach and wants to keep him if DH walks. If they fire him now and DH leaves, they will have to hire another coach and still pay D'Antoni. The last thing they worry about is kneeling down to DH making them look bad. And it could be a strategy to appeal to DH. They will say "look, Dwight, we really like D'Antoni, but for you, we are willing do anything".
