Which is why Indy doesn't have to be in a rush to trade Granger...

Remember reading this somewhere, but the Lakers could clear enough cap space to sign a 2nd all star/ super star with Dwight if they waive Kobe and trade Gasol for dirt cheap.

I do not mind Gasol for a 1 year rental.

    Dmo for Gasol straight up.

I don't think we are going to help the Lakers form another dynasty by taking Pau for them and giving them a young, potential star. However, if a team like Atlanta or Milwaukee decided they liked Pau enough to take on his last year and they would be willing to take on Artest to go with him, then they could trade nothing but air for Pau and Artest, the Lakers could amnesty Kobe, and yes, they could sign CP3.

Just to take that thought a little further. If the Lakers could get a commitment from Dwight before or on June 30, then they could negotiate the deal with Milwaukee and then tell Artest they are going to trade him to Milwaukee if he doesn't exercise his early termination option. Artest likely opts out, not wanting to get stuck in Milwaukee for a season. Lakers then trade Pau and something else (Hill or Blake) to Milwaukee and signs CP3.

How about this trade but i dont know how cap will hit or not.

    Trade 1:

Hou In: Aldridge and maybe Picks if needed
Hou Out: Lin / T. Jones or T. Rob / Donuts

Por In: Lin / T. Jones or T. Rob / Donuts
Port Out: Aldridge and maybe Picks if needed

    FA Sign

Howard, pick up option on Delfino and Paul / or trade for Bledsoe.

    Line up:

    Paul or Bledsoe / Beverley
    Harden / Delfino or FA
    Parsons / Delfino or FA
    Aldridge / T.Rob
    Howard / Asik

with this line up i think its calling Championship contender. what do you guys think does cap work out. maybe Bima can answer that question.

portland does not need lin, they have lillard...

portland will try its arse off to sign pekovic this off season... if they sign pekovic and maybe one other decent signing or trade (say for oj mayo, possibly even e.Go) they could be light contenders, especially with growth from batum and lillard...

    a starting line-up of...

    lillard
    (mayo or E.Go)
    batum
    aldridge
    pekovic

    ... is pretty goood...

Thunder got Martin (established above average vet), Lamb (young 1st round pick), 2 1st rounders and a 2nd for Harden.

Portland is going to demand Asik, Beverley, a power forward (or two), and a 1st for Aldridge....and the only way Houston does that deal is if Howard has signed with the Rockets.

Aldridge is worth more than what you are offering so there is no way they have to add picks

Too much to give up. I don't see Parsons being shipped anyway. Morey'll trade his own mother to better the team, but I think Parsons is here to stay, unless incoming player's name is LeBron etc etc. (hyperbole on my part, but I still say, Parsons ain't going nowheres)

Harkless could be our 6th man at sf if Orlando would give him up.

Houston can't even negotiate with Dwight until July 1st so how can you get a commitment from Dwight before June 30th.

Even if it was an under the table commitment, its too risky to deal on.

Sign both? No. We'd have to clear extra cap room alone just to offer Dwight max.

Read up on BimaThug's latest update, and his analysis of how the Rockets could still go over the cap, and still keep their exceptions.

I dont think Millsap would sign into on of Houston's exceptions, but they would still be able to go after another solid role player with those exceptions AFTER they sign someone like Dwight.

More than likely though he's going to command more money than they will have to offer in those exceptions. However, you might see the Rockets entertain moving Asik at that point either in a sign and trade, or trade for someone like Millsap despite what you will hear them say leading up to free agency about "Asik & Howard playing together."

If we're dead set on getting D12, especially with the change in perception on the Houston Rockets, what do we do with Omer Asik? I would love the idea of two 7-footers banging it around in the paint but their skill sets are a bit limited to clear up any room for penetration for our guards.

Do we trade Omer Asik now? In a way, this maintains any leverage we have on trading him for good impact/role players that can contribute now? Or do we play it safe, make sure we get D12 first and then look for buyers. But, at that point, do we lose a lot of leverage since people know we're trying to get rid of him? I mean, any ideas on how this scenario could unfold if for example, we could get a David West if we did the trade now versus getting a Jared Dudley if we sign D12?

dobro, I think you misunderstood my article.

If the Rockets "stay over the cap" and retain the MLE and BAE, then they CANNOT go out and sign a major outside free agent using their cap room. Basically, it's one or the other. My point was that the team at least still had the option to use their salary cap exceptions if they struck out with Dwight, CP3 and the other top free agents. But the overwhelming likelihood is that the Rockets opt for cap room regardless, since they will have so much of it.
