Does the Super Bowl coming houston finally takes its transit infrastructure seriously and build the long forgotten university and uptown lines? The galleria was a total debacle last time and even for the two all star games so this would be the perfect reason to finally make some updates.
Is that a serious question? Hav you paid any attention to the uptown / university lines lately? We'll be lucky if those lines are built in the next 20 years - forget about being built by the super bowl.
You might not want to ride the rail seeing where its heading Is just a free ride for the poor ... I dont see anyone paying to get on.
Yes. It took a Super Bowl to get a rail from downtown to reliant. Now with the Super Bowl coming, back, we will get one in uptown. When Houston is awarded Super Bowl LXIII, we will have light rail again, this time right by bigtexxx mansion.
The same people who pay for a bus pass will pay for a rail pass. That is the way mass transit works everywhere in the country, other than Houston where we have no real mass transit.
Why do people say that Houston can't handle light rail when Dallas is very similar to Houston and their rail is pretty successful and they are planning more expansions to it. Soon, you'll be able to take a rail line from DFW airport right down to downtown Dallas. That's convenience.
I would love and use light rails in those areas, but it will never happen. People in Houston are very anti-rail for some odd reason
One day it will come back to bite Houston. Gasoline will not last, and one day it will skyrocket in price. You will watch the dollar bills being thrown away while you sit in traffic to go to work. AND then people will want an alternative for the commute to work and back.
Gasoline will last. Houston is booming from shale oil and other developments. The earth will boil before the last drop of oil is extracted.
Gas prices already skyrocketed and I10 is still crowded with its 12 lane highways. People just don't care here.
Who needs convenience and cheap when you can ride around town with your chauffeur in your Rolls Royce, right bigtexxx?
I agree with you on the 'never' and I've noticed that, at least in Houston, if something doesn't benefit EVERYONE, people won't vote for it. Like, if there's no rail to the west side, those people won't vote for a rail to the east side. You gotta start somewhere.
They built the rail from the downtown hotels to the stadium. That's the only route effected by the Super Bowl.
