Monopoly is a monopoly. It stints innovation and creativity.

They were definitely focusing on the actual hardware and features for this event. I imagine the gaming side will get more focus at E3 in a few weeks.

Seems to be going pretty good with ESPN and Microsoft.

I honestly don't care for it being an exclusive partnership to Xbox. The fact that all of that fantasy stuff is there is a great. Content is what matters.

I always wanted something like that on Google TV, but I think I'll have a much better time with this than I ever did with Google TV.

So, I completely missed the reveal.

I'm getting bits and pieces of info from this thread, but...

Is there a recap I can read online? Or can someone kindly recap it for the people who missed this presentation?

You have to pay a fee to play used games? Well, that takes the XBOX out of my decision. I'll either buy a PS4 or build a gaming PC.

XBOX. PLAYSTATION. ****TY CONTROLS. Bought a Playstation 2 and hardly ever use it. Bought a XBOX360 and never play it but my nephews play them. My nephews stop playing the XBOX after I bought them a new PC and they never look back.

What kill the consoles for me are their POS controllers. But at least they are heading into the right direction trying to make it into a media center. The only way for them to pull me away from my PC is to turn the console into a media center like a PC.

That's how I feel too, I'm liking the media features this has. I love my Google TV and my Logitech Revue. But this is looking just like the hardware I want.

As for gaming, I'll never leave PC. Steam....Greenmangaming...Amazon...direct2play....all great places to purchase games for cheap.

Console games are over priced....and remain over priced way too long.

    Hmmmm.

On one hand, it would suck to pay a subscription fee to GameFly and then pay another fee on top of that to Microsoft in order to play a game. On the other hand, you essentially get to keep the game. Could end up being cheaper than buying new games. It could be a good deal but I guess it depends on how much the MS fee is. If it's anything close the retail cost, that's not going to work for most people. I only buy a few games a year and play most of my games via GameFly. Still taking a wait and see approach, comparing the two systems in their final form once all the info is in. But as a current XBox user, I don't have a problem switching to PS. I switched from the PS2 to the 360 and won't hesitate to switch back.

Like the PS4, the XBOX One with not be backwards compatible.

This was one area where XBOX could have had a clear advantage. But now, the desire to be able to play games they've already bought for the current generation on the new consoles isn't going to factor into gamers decisions on which console to buy because neither console has the ability to do that.

I'm pretty sure it will be hackable down the road to be able to play older games. XBOX and Microsoft is about selling their product more than selling the games and they will let it be hackable in certain area.
