Will China Mediate the Israeli Palestinian Conflict

So it's possession by conquest? As someone who toured Jerusalem and the West Bank when it was part of Jordan, I suppose it depends on one's point of view. If there is ever to be peace between Israel and its neighbors, she needs to accept that she cannot simply "own" the Holy City, so important to many religions. Compromise will have to occur, someday, somehow, and she will have to give up control of large chunks of the Old City, or be prepared to never have peace.

I'm sure China will be a big help there. (insert "roll-eyes" here)

 

There's no benefit to the leaders - especially conservative ones - to compromise. While Palestinan rocket and terror attacks occur, they're not so bad that they can't be coped with - indeed I would guess most Israelis are used to - if not accepting of- the idea of being at constant war.

Plus, fighting an eternal conflict distracts voters from economic problems, and giving up any of the holy city would be political suicide.
