One time, I got on the court and took part in a 14-game winning streak at a local gym with some legit ballers. It seemed as improbable as the Rockets 22-game win streak after Yao went down because we weren't really better than everyone else, we just played well together and shot well from 3 (2 points in pick-up). We had a few comebacks too and even in the 15th game, we had a lead at 7-6 before the wheels fell off and the entire team ran out of gas. I remember being sore and tired for the next two days, LOL. What's the longest you remember?
I don't remember how many games exactly, maybe 7 or 8. It was me and my short white friends (they're short, not me, I'm 6'3) and this tall black guy everyone called "MJ". He carried us but we were decent role players. Good times.
I had a streak 2 or 3 years ago that lasted an entire week. It was like a no-hitter - it couldn't be spoken about. Ultimately it was only 10 games I think (I only played after work), but it was still a lot of fun!
3 games. They were all against kids we had a solid four years (and couple of feet) on though, so that probably doesn't count.
Wuuut? It's pickup, if you're running with some good players it win as often as you lose. Anything else means you're not facing the right competition
Not necessarily. As I said, we weren't really better than everyone else and usually didn't even have the best player on the court. A few times, we were down by something like 3-5 points with a point or two to go for the other team to win but pulled it out due to some good teamwork, very clutch shooting (especially from 3) and even a little luck. It was a fluke but still fun and memorable. This certainly wasn't like USA basketball against Nigeria or the 8th graders picking on the 3rd graders.
As a matter of fact, it was so memorable and improbable that I can't even remember the second longest streak in the 20+ years I've played pick-up ball.
Don't think I've ever played 14 in one day before... maybe 7-8 games and won them all on a rare occasion or two.
Like I said, I was drained for the next two days afterward. It took a lot of energy to maintain that.
Whatever, there's no way to prove it either way but you do need to ask yourself why I would randomly start a thread highlighting it. Now if someone else had started it and I had said I'd won that many then it'd be more likely.
