I would be pretty comfortable with Jones or Motiejunas starting next to Howard or Asik for that matter. Depends on if we are in title contention mode next year or if we are focusing on developing the youth. Both guys (Jones and Motiejunas) are talented and versatile enough to work in either scenario. Thanks
What makes Motiejunas' post moves the best on the team isn't about his speed, it is all about his footwork and positioning. Look at Luis Scola or Al Jefferson or Dirk or Duncan or even Yao when healthy, they aren't the fastest guys, but when they use either positioning or power to be effective in the post. What makes post moves difficult isn't having speed, it is being able to not let the opposing guy push you out of position. Motiejunas found out in his rookie season in most games, he needs to bulk up to keep his positioning because as a unknown big refs aren't going to call the fouls unless they are blatant.
thats part of the reason he has to use the footwork and pivots so much in the paint.just doesnt have the strength to back people down. tha'll come hopefully, but yao had an incredible lower body even at a very young age.
Honestly, Scola was probably a perfect mentor for DMo on a peer's level. The Scola shake use to put people in a spin cycle. Unfortunately, he was amnestied in hopes of getting the guy Morey is going after again this summer. Hopefully, he gets some work in with McHale this summer and develops the confidence to come back and contribute more consistently. Wait and see would be my suggestion.
