Didn't Yao try to keep weight off during his final seasons? To put less stress on his knees?

Because he didn't expect to play in the NBA at all and he have never ever expected a call-up from championship contender. The guy wasn't playing for two month even in a scrub-league, like CBA, of course he would not be a 100%. He's looking better in terms of body shape in a month he's been with the Spurs, probably could become a part of the rotation later this series, especially because of Kawhi injury and future struggles for his team in this series, it's gonna be a very long series

The only player I ever saw remain the same exact weight as when he came into the league was Kevin Willis, and he worked hard on that.

This is really a silly discussion to have here. Even freaking Allen Iverson gained weight.

Every time he gets the ball he immediately passes it to the next guy. Looks like he sees himself as a team piece now.

Most players gain weight gradually. McGrady's was sudden. In his last playoff series against Utah, he still looked lean. The subsequent offseason, he had arthroscopic surgery on his knee, and when the regular season started, he was noticeably chubbier.

Just DVR the game, and fast forward to the last 5 minutes if the Spurs are up by 20 points or when the Spurs put Patty Mills in the game, you know you might see Tmac.

Yep! He even took 3 shots. The crowd really wanted him to hit his 3s lol.

There was a graphic showing his career average. Something like 19, 6 and 5 or something.

the only time Pop will let him play is when they're down by 12 points in the last 10 seconds.

I was thinking the same thing. With him chipping away at his averages, he is killing whatever small chance he had to make the Hall of Fame.

It might help him if he finally gets a ring but it depends on how the voters look at it I suppose.

You think the Hall of Fame voters are stupid? They are not going to refuse to vote for him because his averages are lower because of a few games played in the twilight of his career.
