Q: does Jimmy-boy Buss want DHoHo to re-sign? If he does it means that his hand selected coach is out the door.

Q: if DHoHo signs in H-town or d or the A-T-L and D'Antoni returns is there a Gasol - Amar'e trade on the horizon (in a sensical world the Knixies would have to sweeten the deal as AS runs an additional year; Shump, perhaps?)?

Q: if DHoHo signs elsewhere and Kobe is not good to return before March do the Lakes say, 'Howdy' to the Lotto - - and somehow (s-o-m-e-h-o-w) win the #1 choice?

Q: is there anything at all to the rumors Jeannie might replace brother as head of the team?

Its only a little over 16M cap hit over two years, the 20M number is what the owner pays him which doesnt matter one bit.

I am not sure about keeping Asik if Rockets land DH. One poster (I don't remember who) said it very well. If the twin-tower or Asik off bend didn't work out and Rockets has to deal him, his trade value would dip quite bit and Morey will has less leverage in trade talks. Asik's trade value is very high now and he should be able get you a good PF and a serviceable C in a trade. Again, I love Asik and hope he stays. But it's going be a interesting situation if DH signs with Rockets.

Says the guy not signing the paychecks ;)

I still think you sell high in that situation but that's just my take.

Especially if you trade for Aisk or Lin in last year of the contract. You will pay them $15mil.

Steve Francis built the Houston Rockets the Toyota Center, and Steve Francis will obtain the Houston Rockets Dwight Howard.

Check post 340. I was aware of the cap hit issue. I only stress peak year because, at the end of the day, the owner is still signing paychecks for that amount.

As for the cap situation, like I said, I haven't been able to post as much as I used to, but the forecast for 2014-15 worries me. So unless I'm missing something, the combined hits from Asik/Lin is essentially one max contract + Harden's deal + Dwight's deal. Three max contracts combined with other pieces should put us very close to the $58.044 million mark. That's all I was saying.

What does his height do that makes him more qualified? I don't think either one of Howard or Asik would be a good PF.

I do believe that Asik, Howard could coexist and you could play them together in stretches. Asik would also be a great insurance policy if Howard went down. Not to mention, Asik is already a very solid starter.

I'm in the camp that would like to see the Rockets retain Asik if they land Howard. That said, I would trade Asik if the right deal came along on say a Kevin Love type deal.

You do realize that for the first two years of the contracts of both Lin & Asik, Les has only been actually paying 5mil for each, while actually suffering a cap PENALTY and counting them 8mil each against the cap? That's 6 mil for each player over those two years that is saved, and it simply comes due in the 3rd year, so that 6mil just gets paid to them then.

As far as anyone in the Rockets organization is concerned, it's 8mil per season, period. Seriously, try to get past the idea that Asik costs too much to keep, especially in the 3rd year, because he does not.

But for every other team, it matters. Not only would trading Asik away only release a cap number of 8mil, it would hit the other team in the trade for the full 15 million.

Can you name a single team out there who would take on Asik for 15 million next year? Especially who can also only send out 8 million in return?

    Asik is not going anywhere.

Is Dwight Howard a Adidas guy (Is he signed w/ Adidas?)?

    I'm just wondering...

The league and rules were vastly different 20 years ago when Thorpe and Olajuwon played together. The defensive rule changes have made it far harder to win without better post spacing and having someone inside that can shoot from the outside.

This..... plus, unlike other teams, Morey has shown a real good ability to find important players later in the draft (Brooks/Parsons/Landry/Budinger) and playing over seas (Scola/Beverly).

    Yes

The Lakers if they are losing Dwight for nothing and the Hawks if they are losing Josh Smith for nothing. That $15M also becomes an expiring which many teams would value, maybe even the Rockets if there plan is to go after Love or Aldridge. However, if the plan is to upgrade the PF spot this year, Asik is a goner. I haven't checked the free agent C availability but would bet there are plenty of serviceable veteran big men that would love to sign on for the veteran's minimum to back up Dwight.

Sorry, but if the Rockets sign Dwight

actually if we trade them ... the team we trade t, has the same cap ramifications as we do. It was only to the original team. So its 8 million for us and 8 million per for any team we trade to.

Man this has all been covered like 5 million times on here.
