Asik this, Asik that... figuring out what to do with Asik is a great problem to have. He was a big part of our success and I'm certain we would net something useful for him.

I wish it were like that when we had Yao and T-Mac. But, then again that's a different situation bc they couldn't stay healthy so why should they have come here.

You don't trade a legit superstar like Rondo for 2 decent non-star players.

Would we ever trade Harden for 2 players like that?

Duncan and Ronbinson won 1 title (singlular not "some" :))... Duncan and Robinson have decent jumpers and can spread the court a little. Robinson (7',1")actually had better handles than Duncan who could dribble very well. Both were also great passers for big men. They used to call Robinson a "point-center." Dream and Sampson were even better than those two. Sampson was a 7',3" small forward. He could easily bring the ball up the court and had better handles than Dream, Duncan, and Robinson. Point is, all four players had some guard skills that helped make the "Twin Tower" concept work.

With all that being said, after seeing Asik and Smith share the floor, I'm fine with Asik and D12 playing together for about 15 minutes per game depending on matchups.

Both the Admiral and Duncan were much more offensively talented than Howard and Asik.

If we played both Howard and Asik, we'd have a front court that could only score if Lin-Harden-Parsons set them up with dunks and lay-ups.

C'mon, you're being a bit harsh. That maybe true for Asik but Howard is a career 19pt player with about 4 years averaging above 20pts. He demands a double team. He can score fine.

IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW MUCH WE ARE ACTUALLY PAYING ASIK, IT ONLY MATTERS HOW MUCH IT HITS THE CAP.

Why are people not capable of understanding this?

You keep Asik when we get Howard every day and twice on Sunday.

8 mil per season for a top shelf backup 5 is worth it.

A, you do not know Howard's health, and how he will REALLY hold up. Until you do, you leave yourself completely exposed and unable to compete if Howard goes on the shelf and you have, who, Greg Smith as your starting 5?

No. You keep Asik, at LEAST until you know for sure that Howard is back to his Superman self, and will hold up as the heavy minutes starter. THEN you can entertain offers for Asik, and deal from a position of strength, not weakness.

Maybe Asik then enables you to make a move for Love when Love becomes available, maybe Minny sees the writing on the wall and decides that Asik for Love is better than anything else they will get, especially since Pekovic is going to bail soon too.

It's worth it to keep Asik, no matter how you slice it, especially since we have developing rookies under friendly contracts, and no obligation to a 1st-rounder this coming year.

Dwight's people are well adapted for the heat and humidity.

    His family is from Atlanta.

Yeah that's definitely a little much. I actually think that offensively Asik and Howard could end up being a handful just b/c of their abilities to grab the offensive rebound. Commit to one and the other is right there to dunk it.

If I were Morey, I would not immediately trade Asik if I signed Dwight UNLESS the trade was for Kevin Love OR we were trading both Asik/Lin away to clear cap to sign Chris Paul as well.

I believe that if Dwight comes here, Asik's trade value will not decrease and actually with him and Dwight playing togehter and one of them being on the floor for all 48 minutes of our games, that our current crop of power forwards (TJones and DMO) are going to look tons better when they can spot up wide in the corners and help defend and board.

If Love isn't available right away (I suspect he won't be.) then you just let the combo percolate and let the young PFs get better and increase in trade value for a future transaction.

The other possibility here is combining several guys like Smith, Anderson, White, Ohlbrecht, and one of TJones/DMo into a trade for a guy like Paul Millsap (sign and trade $37.5 million/4 yrs) or a player like Ersan Ilyasova. This would give you 2 centers (Dwight and Asik) and two PFs (Millsap/Ilyasova and one of DMO/TJones) for the current rotation next season with the idea being that you could evnetually move Asik and the 2 PFs for a serious superstar like KLove.

IF Morey executes a sign and trade for Josh Smith using Asik, it would most likely be just Asik alone going out for Smith and it would have to be because it is part of Dwight coming here OR Morey feels like Smith signed at $50/million over 4 years is a lot better trade asset than Asik signed for 2 seasons at $8.374 cap hit.

Personally, my gut tells me we ain't bringing in Smith if we sign Dwight only if Dwight requires it for him to sign here.

Yes, this. I also don't think the Rockets are hot on Smith and I'm pretty sure Dwight does not require it.

I think the twin towers will be given at least until the trade deadline to work.

Is this the reason why we are dead last in defend?

Am I one of the few here that believes Parsons can be the third guy of the possible Big 3?

If we get Howard, we can trade Dmo and Asik for Ryan Anderson and Robin Lopez. We get a sharp shooting PF along with an upgrade backup center.

    Lin/Beverley
    Harden/Anderson
    Parsons
    Anderson/Jones/Smith
    Howard/Lopez

I dont like the idea of J.Smith and Howard on the front court. In spite of the physical contributions they make on the court, the basketball IQ diminishes quite a bit especially on Smith's end.

I do like having Asik either backing up Dwight or pairing together, Im just not sure whether McHale will be able to utilize both at the same time.

I remember McHale campaigning to have a legitimate center on the roster 2 seasons ago and when we finally had Camby and Dalembert, there were times that neither were on the floor. And if Im not mistaken, I never recall when they were on the floor at the same time, opting for a small ball lineup.

So I suspect McHale is savvy enough to pull it off.
