I can't wait to see moreys moves at draft night.
If morey create more cap space, then probably Howard is a Rocket

I think it's a toss up on whether he comes to houston. Certainly like my chances now relative to a few months ago.

It would be too expensive and Asik's value is really high after showing he can play at a high level for 30+ minutes. I think Greg Smith can improve his defense next year as he's still really young and he could be adequate as a backup for Howard.

I think what he means is he wants a big next to him who doesn't take any of his touches.

Yup. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Morey traded Lin or Asik on draft night for a high pick, like the 6th or 7th pick. He might trade both of em so we can keep Delfino and bring back Garcia for some bench play. He might use the rest to sign a Paul Millsap or a J.J Hickson. Who knows, we might end up with a big 3. Howard, J-Smoove, and the Beard..

if we sign dwight, morey will not trade asik just for the sake of trading him. it is much smarter to keep asik as the backup as insurance. now dont get me wrong, morey will shop him along with other pieces, but only for an elite talent.

you have to think like morey. with asik on the floor, we become the best half court defense(supposedly). dwight and asik always being on the court makes this team so so much better defensively, because as we know, when asik goes out, so does our defense.

now you have to look at teams with problems at C, and star or close to star players that are possible for trade. i have said many times my dream scenario is for minnesota to lose out on pekovic and love to demand a trade. because our two most valuable assetts are there biggest needs, SF and C.

but if morey wanted to capture his value and go for a third option, look for more realistic options like a ilyasova or anderson. both are very good at the 3, good rebounders, and ilyasova is a quality defender. while you can argue unibrow will be the center, he is still the pf for NOH. and davis/asik FC is scary defense.

But to me milwaukee represents the most likely. asik/motie/t.rob for ilyasova/henson is a possibility, give or take a few pieces depending on negotiations. lin/harden/parson/ilyasova/dwight is scarrry... along with decent fc bench still with tjones/henson/smith, would just need quality wing and guard depth.

Anything from Berger is worth as much as one of us writing about the Howard situation. Dismiss it.

Why not? Asik in the middle means that Howard would have to expend less energy on defense, he'll get all the highlights due to blocks because Asik doesn't want to foul out, Asik HATES the media and attention and also provides no competition on the offense.

Meanwhile both Asik and Howard's energy would be preserved because they'd have to expend less energy individually PLUS there's injury insurance, and Howard can take as long as he needs to easing in minutes due to a return from injury.

Additionally, just thinking about Lin's media and injury issues and thinking of how much incredibly worse it could have been PR-wise (Lin mentioned, for instance, that the media was crazier and more time-consuming in NY than at Houston during a QnA for his film), and I think that the Rockets would have a blueprint in place for how to help Howard handle the media.

In regards to 2014 cap space....if we land Dwight this summer...there's no reason why we couldn't create cap space in 2014 to sign one of those guys outright. Half the league is banking on 2014. Somebody will be willing to take Asik and Lin if need be to create enough cap to sign a 3rd max guy.

But in reality it will never come to that. If Dwight comes here, the third superstar (if we indeed want a third superstar) will be acquired through trade.

Hey, I'm not sure where to ask this but why does Dan Fegan allegedly dislike Morey/the Rockets FO? Is it because of the Dampier thing?

You do NOT trade Asik just to get rid of him, he is cheap enough you keep him and sign Howard as well. He is worth every dollar and with both of them we would be scary defensively.

However, yo DO trade Asik for Love/Aldridge/Bosh/etc, because now you would become favorites to win the West.
