That blocked was the turning point of the game. And J.R. Smith is more shameless in terms of chucking.
He needs to fall in love with the post. He's so damn strong and crafty down there so I don't know why he insists on playing from the outside. I know it's easier said than done and it's much harder to receive the ball in the post versus the perimeter but it has to be done.
The gritty block on one end, the JR Smith sulk there at the end after he let his man burn him backdoor says plenty. I appreciate stout position defense the Chuck Hayes types bring. No need for fancy aerials when the "ground game" can actually be more effective. But a rim protecting blocked shot sendback just sends more impactful MESSAGE. Hakeem iced game 6 of Finals not contesting a shot to a miss but with a clean BLOCK altogether. It gets people thinking
Seriously, how is somebody who is paid millions of dollars to literally RUN AROUND and stuff, stilll that ******* overweight?!?! It's not like he needs any more sand in his pants like some beanpole 7fter. His body looks like a mismash of potatoes
5 star thread for sure. Great basketball abilities.. shoots way too damn much. Not a team player. Yep those are still true since the day he joined the NBA. Think he's MJ in late game situations... at least MJ gave great deal of leadership... also made his shots.
You know who has the worst shot selection, Rudy gay. Crazy athletic, shoots nothing but low % contested jumpers. The only player I've seen can pull that was tmac.
Not defending Melo or anything, but I think he did all he could to win that game, the guy had descent game (39 pts-15-29, 2 asst, 7 rebs), didn't have enough help in the crucial moments. IMO the biggest disappointment was Smith, the guy was beyond trash throughout the whole playoffs, now I know why he is getting paid only 2.8 Millions.
I think Melo had a great game and he did it vs. one of the very best wing defenders in the NBA. He probably got tired by the 4th and some of the stops were just an amazing Pacers defense. That Hibbert block was absolutely crazy. The big story should be Tyson Chandler getting dominated... again. Tyson Chandler is supposed to be a max guy, their 2nd best player, a champion, their vocal leader and their defensive anchor. 21-12 with 5 blocks by Hibbert. 2-6 with 6 fouls by Chandler. Not to mention the silly technical. That's like Duncan meets Kendrick Perkins.
I don't know that Tmac would get out of this series. Melo's "help" didn't exactly shine for the most part.
