When a team leaves a city, they should change its name and leave all the history of the team behind. It should exists like a new expansion team.
Thunder look simple with a classic cut to me. What i hated was their first home court. Now it looks great. Bobcats have never had a good look. They've always tried to do too much.
Dumping the very lame Bobcats is definitely the right move. Creating a new name instead of reverting back to Hornets might serve them better.
the only name that I can't stand in the NBA is the Utah Jazz. It's so stupid that they get to keep that name, New orleans should have all-time rights over it. No one goes to Utah for their jazz music.
Agreed. It just fits perfect. Wright brothers. Air Jordan. Does Adidas create all uniforms? Would Nike/Jordan brand be able to design the jerseys if they were to change? Maybe they will design the new Hornets logo and jerseys.
That was my thought. Get a new identity. The Pelicans kinda route is probably best, something fresh and unique. The Hornets mascot and unis was the thing back THEN 15 years ago. But its not like "Grandmama" and their legacy was THAT historic. Supersonics at least won a championship and had BETTER teams Its part the Michael Jordan factor, would think he's the LAST that'd want a "hand-me-down" name, would figure he'd want his OWN brand. When Jordan said results were "very mixed" on Hornets name, I think he WANTED it to seem mixed so he WON'T be getting his hand forced to do it lol. But then maybe Jordan's thinking that the BOBCATS name itself was ownership trying too much to imprint a PERSONAL brand, so Jordan won't repeat that same mistake and go with something "established". (And this is why its hard for new franchises, cuz all they get is damned if you/damned if you dont options and choices. Even when given a blueprint it takes a competent office and a lot of luck to do things successfully and profitably)
Well, maybe Bobcats would have grown on us if they won.. for example Houston Texans is a horrible name, but has grown on us to likable status
i always loved the Texans name. It just works. I didn't meet anyone here in Houston that didn't like it either. Some wanted Rough Riders(was that it?), but were okay with Texans. Rough Riders sounds lame anyway if that was the name being thrown around..can't remember. It may sound stupid to non Texan natives. But, who cares what they think.
