How good was Dennis Linsey when he was working for the Rockets?

I remember him working for the Rockets. After losing out on the GM job to Morey after CD retired, he went to the Spurs. I just saw the other day that he's the GM for the Jazz now. That really surprised me.

I am not an old-timer like many people here. My question is, was he really good when he worked here?

Man who knows, it all falls under Morey's umbrella.

We traded him for Scola, so I guess "he look okay". Doesn't matter though, Utah runs a system GM scheme, draft the best white player available.

I just remember he was part of the braintrust (along with Rudy and CD) that decided to do the Eddie Griffin draft day trade. He was the Director of Player Personnel back then.

From what I recall, he came up from the bottom ranks with the Rockets, so it's good to see him do well. I remember him thanking the Rockets organization in an interview after becoming GM, specifically Rudy and CD for helping him get where he is today. He started as something like a video coordinator or scout with the organization.

He was well thought of when he worked his way up through the Rockets system. He is more old school than Morey.
