A thread built for the offseason and potential risky maneuvers the team will be faced with.

What are the worst moves the front office could make with our current potential assests and flexibility?

Acquiring Amare Stoudemire at a cost:
Stoudemire used to be one of the most sought after PFs in the NBA, but he hasn't proven that great of a fit with Melo in New York and injuries have had him sidelined for most of the past few seasons. Here is a potentially horrific way that the Rockets could land him.

    - Trading one of our young Power Forwards (Motiejunas, Jones or Robinson) plus a future 1st round pick and Patrick Beverly. To get Stoudemire, Jason Kidd and former Rocket James White.

Can anyone top that as a potential bad move to acquire some new talent?

Morey knows better than to go after Stoudemire.

    Why would Morey do that?

The worse thing I can think of is standing pat... not doing anything. Or signing Al Jeff/ Paul Milisap

and the standing pat that isn't all that bad, but not doing anything probably means missing the playoffs next year imo.

Hard to answer this question. I assume you mean moves they could be tempted by.

To me, it's going into "win now" mode too soon, i.e. siging Jefferson, Millsap, Iggy, or Smith WIHOUT also signing Dwight or CP3. All of them can be starters on a championship team, but none of them can be a/the star of that team.

In my mind, its sign Dwight and/or CP3 or trade for one of Cousins/Aldridge/Love. Otherwise sit tight, wait for your assets to improve, and try your luck at the trade deadline or next offseason.

If the Rockets aren't going to get Howard and/or Paul, then standing pat is the BEST move for the organization. Going after Smith, Iguodala, etc. would be far worse than waiting until 2014 with our available cap room. That would allow our players one more year of growth while being one of the major players in a market chock full of game-changers.

James Harden straight up for Andris Biedrins

(wait, were these supposed to be actually viable bad moves?)

Let's trade Lin for Felton and Amare. Morey get it done! Not sure if it is good for Rockets though.

Trade Asik for picks and sign Greg Oden the max deal. He's the next generation of centers.

    Keeping Lin....

    I kid, I kid.

Pretty much any move that hampers our ability to acquire elite talent.

Parsons for Durant, his stock his down after choking once again in the playoffs, but tbh I would honestly thinking about keeping Parsons, that contract and hes sexier

No long term contract for Bynum under any circumstance. Paying more than 12 million for Josh Smith or 10 million for Milsap.
