I'm not one to overrate the rockets talent, but it would take a lot to trade parsons. First thing I would have to do is secure howard via free agency. To get howard, that means dumping lin and a player for a t.e. So now I have harden, parsons,?, and howard. That's a top 5 nba team alone. For me to get top 2, the rockets would ned either Love or L.A. so now you package Asik,Parson, robinson/jones/d-mo, plus a pick. They would have to fill parsons void with a guy like Austin Daye or someone of that ilk.If u roll out brooks or beverly, harden, austin daye, L.A. or Love, and Howard, that's a championship roster regardlee as to who is on the bench.

No, you certainly don't tend to overrate our players. I just hate the idea of losing Parsons, unless we have no other real choice in order to make a major upgrade that clearly makes the team better in the aggregate. The dude just has an innate understanding of the game and how to play it, combined with the tools to play at a high level, and who's to say he won't continue to improve? Yeah, I would hate to move him. Don't wanna do it!

    Not sure if serious.....

Top 3 team in West, sure. But top 5 in the entire league? No way. It would be Harden,Parsons,Howard and 10 average to below average players on the roster. Not championship quality.

If you're #3 in the west, you're #4 in the league.

    I would do this
    Parsons/Asik/Tjones/Lin for Wall/Nene

Then sign Dwight and Garcia back

    Dwight
    Nene
    Garcia
    Harden
    Wall

I am not for trading Parsons, but I would be more willing to if we were to get another steal in the second round. Looking on nba draft.net, which while not very reliable right now can at least show you names that need to raise their value. The name that stands out to me is Ricardo Ledo.

This guy has the skills to be a really good NBA player if Morey can get this guy I think, it gives you real talent depth at the SF position and or an asset to show off to help us keep Parsons. In one if the videos he's defending Jon Wall and is holding his own.

In my opinion he is better for this team than a CJ Leslie or a DeShaun Thomas who are both projected to go higher than him.

For any player who is in the top 10 at his position, or for a great defensive player on the perimeter, and Lin for any other pg in the world

I would love to trade parsons right now, his value will NEVER be higher. you guys are fans, front office don't give two shiiiits about who you like or don't. love him as player, but he's NEVER gonna be a game changer, just a decent third best player on a NON championship team, his value is high because of his contract, after he gets paid his value drops 50%. I would give him up for about 30 players off the top of my head easy and Morey would be smart to do so this summer.

I really enjoy the posters who show up in these threads and are all like, "LOL u guyz r morans u think u can trade parsons 4 LBJ hahahaha wut r u drinking." As if the OP isn't asking us to respond to a hypothetical situation or something.

At any rate, I think most people with more than two brain cells to rub together in this thread agree that the only reason to trade a guy like Parsons is to get another max level player - preferably a young one with no history of injury problems whom you can re-sign until he's over the hill. Otherwise, trading Parsons isn't worth it because he makes so little money that freeing him up won't give you the cap space to sign a max player (basically this would be impossible unless the Rockets trade both Lin and Asik anyway). In addition, he performs so far above his contract value that he's exactly the kind of guy you want to surround your max players with. He's a young-player equivalent of guys like Battier and Allen on the Heat - guys who take a lot less money than they are actually worth in order to win. Except he makes way, way less than even those guys.

Really, that's the crux of the "problem" when you're dealing with a player like Parsons. No one is saying that he's as good as Durant or LeBron. But because he is so young, plays so well, and is paid so cheaply, he's almost impossible to move because he provides so much bang for the buck (i.e. "wins-per-dollar"). So the only situation in which a smart GM would be willing to trade him is if you picked up a max-level player in return, because that player would provide so much total value that even if he weren't as much of a good deal his skill would help push the team deeper into the playoffs and closer to contention (i.e. his wins-per-dollar is lower but his total wins are much higher).

Otherwise, you're much better off just holding onto him.

Morey had plenty of inquiries about Parsons this year and didn't pull the trigger. Clearly you and he wouldn't agree on that.

Do you really believe that Parsons didn't impact games this past season?
