In theory there's some sympathy for Royce buried in my somewhere, and this article stirs it a little. But then I remember how dramatically he lied about his readiness for the day-to-day NBA grind in pre-draft interviews like the Grantland piece. And once that guaranteed contract had a signature on it, suddenly #honesty and #support and #openness became something to demand of the organization without having lived any of those virtues himself. So yeah, no.
so he took a 500k paycut ? honestly fresh start this season for both parties... Dmo, jones or lamb did not play much at all this yr anyways
What I'm trying to figure out is how they got so many pictures of Royce White in a Rockets jersey? They must have a quality photo-shopper.
this obsession with white on clutchfans is weird p*rn anxiety people hate him yet follow him on twitter wanting to be offended
I don't follow White, but I these articles generate enough vitriol inside me to post. I hate him because I bet he hasn't taken one antidepressant treatment in his whole life and followed through on it. I've never seen him mention his experiences. Instead he talks about other peoples problems with drugs or the writer fills in with his experiences relating to treating anxiety with drugs. Instead he says how drugs are bayad and 'he heard' other people can get addicted. The writer in the op himself went through a series of frustrating treatments before he found his right SSRI. Is that an example for Royce not to try and make that a part of his case for why the League is a bully? Well, I know enough that it is worth it for the writer to find his right treatment for him to continue it. What makes Royce think that he's better than the writer by personally abstaining while posing as a spokesperson and speaking out against taking drugs? This shows to me that Royce isn't serious about his commitment to address his anxiety and minimizes how crippling it is for many people around the world who face the heavier varieties. People don't get these opportunities to inspire and promote change, but when they do, it'd be a damn shame to waste it like White has. Second infuriating thing is how Royce pinned "the cause" on his back but has underperformed and disappointed every step of the way. He's made an embarrassment of himself on Twitter, on the court and off the court. He never picks up responsibility for everything and cherry picks between pretending himself to be a victim of...his mental illness that hasn't been diagnosed by other sources, the Rockets, the league, or if all else fails, the System. He never seems to think to himself, "I'm making other people who suffer from anxiety look bad. I'm not removing that stigma. Instead, I'm exploiting their troubles while not working my butt off not only to improve myself but to improve the lives of others suffering from anxiety." And if people call him out for his flaws, he can shrink back into being only a lowly human despite the fact that he relishes and lives for his status even if he never picks up a ball and works hard to accomplish it. This guy is trash, and the reason I'm even writing now is because the garbage bin is overflowing at my doorstep and the occasional fly seeps inside my door from time to time. I can't wash my hands of this guy soon enough and the only thing I can hope for is a New Jersey that has even more trash to accept this guy for a blatant salary dump.
I think I would have more sympathy if he simply kept him self in good shape. He doesn't go to school doesn't have a normal job. But what happens when he finally plays in the d league this season he looks like he has 20% body fat. That just makes you look like you are collecting a pay check, and does not care.
